Q seems to improve with age for me :ponder:

Really enjoyed this one and liked the way the crew treated Q, with a nice little bit of writing pairing Data with the newly human Q.

Interesting to see Q discovering a bit of a conscience and hinting that he does care for the Enterprise, even if it's a case of not wanting to lose his favourite toy  :ponder:

Only minor gripe with this one was the truly woeful acting/scripting of the aliens, although fortunately they only had a small part to play

There are so many brilliantly funny one-liners in this episode it's tough to know where to start. Humanising the enemy is not the safest way to go (to wit: Hugh), but somehow with Q it works. His exasperation at losing his powers and being stuck in human form, the realisation that he's only chosen this form because he wants Picard's protection from all the other races that would want him dead or suffering, means that it falls just the right side of the line between brilliance and failure

John De Lancie is always good value but here he surpasses himself.

Even the appearance of Corbin Bernsen can't spoil it, in fact he's actually quite funny. But it's Q's interaction with the crew that makes the episode, his lessons in humanity from - of all people - Data, his verbal sparring with Beverley, his petulant moodiness when ordered around by Geordi etc.

His parting gift to Data is hilarious, too, as is the Mariachi band, the cigars, the back pain, the list goes on

It's easily TNG's best comedy episode and, along with The Trouble With Tribbles, the best in any of Trek's incarnations, imo

Been trying to resist the urge to quote, but I've failed...

Q: What do I have to do to convince you?
Worf: Die.
Q: Oh, very clever Worf. Eat any good books lately?

Guinan: I hear they drummed you out of the Continuum.
Q: I like to think of it as a significant career move.

Q: Perspicacity incarnate. Please don't feel compelled to tell me the story of "the boy who cried Worf".

Q (to Riker): You're so stolid. You weren't like that before the beard.

Worf: Be quiet! Or disappear back where you came from.
Q: I can't disappear, anymore than you could win a beauty contest.

Q: I'm not good in groups. It's difficult to w**k in a group when you're omnipotent.

Q: I'm forgiven! My brothers and sisters of the Continuum have taken me back. I'm immortal again! Omnipotent again!
Riker: Swell.
