Not bad but not brilliant

Had to laugh a bit at Rikers homing in on the attractive female thing. Not sure how his 'anything in a skirt' approach fits in with the evolved morals of humanity  :ponder:

Beyond this the episode was watchable but not anything else - the story was okay and Patrick Stewart gave his usual high class performance (which is something I've really noticed on the re-watch), but other than that it was all abit ho hum.

Couple of things that did pee me off - Yuta was over a hundred or something and had her cells altered to slow her aging. If this sort of technique exists why the hell isn't every one at it  The other thing was the ending with Yuta being vaporised by Riker. In every other encounter where the Enterprise people have shot people with a phaser they have been able to take out their enemies on a heavy stun setting and yet mysteriously Riker can only use a couple of teeny little zaps that do nothing and then set it to 'lets disolve the bitch' setting. FFS, in the same fewkin' scene he stunned a member of the same race just fine  <_<

And more to the point, whilst he's standing there trying to talk her out of it and zapping her every few seconds not one single person tries to grab her and immobilise her

This has never been one I've particularly liked or disliked but it wasn't that bad on rewatch.

I do, though, get a tad peed off with just about every genre show going - even the greatness of this one - because eventually they all decide to portray some race or other as a gang of Hell's Angels

I kept expecting them to turn up on their warp-enabled Harleys

Oh, and Riker is DA MAN
