Title: New Fantastic 4 Animated

jamiearmour - September 1, 2006 08:43 AM (GMT)
It launches Stateside tomorrow.

It appears that it will be based somewhere between the comics and the movie, so it can effectively choose which pieces of continuity it wants to

The animation looks pretty good in the trailers I've seen, it may be worth a look.

Can't say as I've seen or heard anything about this, but, I've always got a soft spot for the animated superhero series

With a few nice piccies to whet our appetites

The animation seems very Eastern-influenced, not that that's a bad thing in any way.

Have to admit, I absolutely adore the art deco look to the likes of Batman TAS, Superman TAS and JLA. They should really bring Batman TAS back. Perhaps ahead of the next movie

The Fantastic Four have always been one of my favourite superhero teams, I think they were possibly the first ones I can ever remember watching/reading.

Eastern influenced?

That'll probably be the effect of the Taiwanese sweatshop it was made in :ph43r:

Totally agree on Batman TAS, greatest cartoon of recent years. The current version "The Batman" just doesn't compare.

I have to admit, Fantastic Four has never been one of my favourites team wise, only recently (i.e. when JMS took over writing chores on the comics) have I found them palatable.

The movie was, well, a bit :ermm: but Chris evans as the Human Torch was absolutely the saviour of the film

Luckily every man and his dog had slated the movie before we saw it. In the end we didn't find it to be that bad. Certainly nowhere near as good as the Spider-man or X-Men movies, but better than Daredevil for example

The latest incarnation of Batman, I just can't watch it, I find it to be quite awful. B*stards. Just do another season or two of Batman TAS instead. Kevin Conroy IS Batman.......

In an almost related point.

JMS is writing yet another book for Marvel, launching this month.

Continuity? Shmontinuity. Kill Ben Parker before he gets the chance to tell Peter about all that power and responsibility crap

That brings JMS's comic output to 5 books for Marvel.

3 monthlies Amazing Spiderman and Fantastic Four and Squadron Supreme
2 Bi-Monthlies The Book of Lost souls and this new one Bullet Point.

Does the guy ever take time off?

I hope not

I'd guess not. I know they've had to delay the latest volume of the B5 scriptbooks to accomodate his hectic schedule at the moment. Besides the comics he's trying to get the B5 anthology episodes off the ground. He's got a new series coming up as well although I think that may be the season after this one coming.

Not complaining though, the bloke's a genius

I'm loving his w**k on Squadron Supreme right now. Only 4 issues in and I'm hooked totally.

Book of Lost souls is a bit of a slow burner with more characterisation in a 2 page spread than most comic book writers manage in a 4 issue mini series.

Amazing Spiderman. I think is JMS at his best. Peter's caught up in something he can't control, fighting against old friends and old enemies. It's Civil War, and Peter is at the heart of it.

Fantastic Four has been brilliant as well, with JMS getting the "honour" of being the one to return a big dead character to life, and writing the most shocking decision of the whole Civil War ark, as Ben Grimm takes a stand :o

He is, as you say, an undeniable genius in the entertainment industry
