I thought this ep was brilliant.
All hail the Jaffa Nation   :o
The Jaffa manage to strike a victory against the Ori, and what to the SGC do? They get cranky
Wasn't Morena Baccarin great as Adria? I almost didn't recognise her. But, as one of my "straight" friends noted, the plunging neckline of her outfit was instantly recognisable
A great, well conceived story, with some interesting revelations about the Ori, and Adria in particular. It's looking as though her mother may be her achilles heel after all :ponder:
Great to see Morena as Adria - I'm glad they gave her some devilish looking contacts. Adria comes across as quite reasonable when speaking to Vala but we see her true colours when she converses with other humans.
We haven't seen the extent of her powers yet, that is going to be interesting and also to see how long she listens to Vala.
Not impressed with this one.
First SG-1 are too arrogant - the Jaffa caused the Ori ship to be abandoned and had all rights to claim it, yet SG-1 just took advantage of the situation and hopped on the ship. The Jaffa say 'Oi, if you don't mind this place is ours cause we got rid of the Ori on it', and SG-1 just think they can wave their guns around and pretend they're somehow in the right.
Still, it's nice to see the series take some risks - you have the ambiguity of the fact that the supwerweapon will kill the Ori, however it's at the expense of any other life on the planet. Shame the place got destroyed in the episode to remove that little dilemma :)
And what is it with SG-1 becoming the home for the abandoned stars of cancelled shows - first we get Browder and Black, now we get whatever her name is from Firefly. Perhaps we should throw in some Angel stars or something for the mix?
