Title: Something Blue
Description: Episode 65

Feeling adrift after loosing Oz, Willow casts a spell to make her desires come true. The spell seems to fail, but strange things begin happening to her friends when Willow gets angry.
Got to say this is one of my favourites, I love Buffy and Spike together in this as they still absolutely hate each other even when lovey dovey  Anthony Stewart Head gives a brilliant comedic performance

Something blue, another great willow episode and a good way to “deal” with willow depression.
Quiet hilarious: xander and his demons magnet, Giles being blind and having to handle Buffy/spike “new found love”, Buffy/spike (a nicer and funnier relationship than in season six, IMO, even if there is that little hint of jealousy over their ex: angel and dru ………. now I would have like to see angel reaction to that one), Buffy telling riley about her wedding and his reaction, “kiss the librarian” mug, spike chained in the tub at Giles flat (spike obsession for “passion”. when did he start watching it? there was no TV in the cave with harmony)
Buffy telling willow about her visit to angel and then her relationship with riley while wondering if she might like danger guy (and wondering why just after staking a vampire without a single blink).
I am not sure what to make of the gang complaining about willow trouble with oz leaving when they didn’t make so much comment for Buffy. And it’s kind of funny to have spike being the only one to “see” how deeply hurt willow is.
Buffy/willow/xander argue at the bronze (about a single light beer. Ok she couldn’t have been drunk after only half a bottle or could she?)
The (re)introduction of d’hoffryn (anya telling how she met him, a story just a little different of how it’s showed in the flashback in selfless ……… I mean “boiled p.n.s” or was that about something/someone else?) and the offer to willow that she refused and his quiet acceptation of her refusal (with the amulet that we finally see again in season seven). The very short return of amy (rat/human/rat) ……. And she has a different reaction to her return to normal than in season six (maybe she had forgot to act/react as a human after 3 long years)
A great and fun episode  (apart maybe for Buffy horrible hair style :ermm: )

Somehow Something Blue seemed better before Willow started the wishing. The dialogue in the teaser, for instance, was really strong and I loved how the slaying dovetailed with the dialogue.
Willow dances like I do ie very badly. It is a bit irritating how Willow seemed to be hiding the beer bottle almost as if she had a problem.
I loved Anya's line that she would have 'liquified his entrails'. Delightfully silly. Xander's 'How? What? How?' line is pretty good too.
On the whole I did not find the wishes that humourful or revelatory. This reminded me a bit of the film Twins where the premise is supposed to be enough in itself. The idea of Buffy and Spike being married is not that good ie it is nowhere as powerful a premise as Doppelgangland.
I liked the screwball dialogue between Buffy and Riley which was a little reminiscent of The Initiative. I liked that they were trying to do something different to the studied intimacy of Buffy and Angel.
Buffy's realisation that she had told Riley she was engaged was a very amusing final twist. 7/10. sk

Didn't realise I was quite so behind as this! Only a month later than everyone else... sorry!
The opposite for me with my thoughts on 'Pangs'. Whilst I enjoyed the last episode more than I remembered, I enjoyed 'Something Blue' less than I thought I would.
There are plenty of good points, as Alex, Claire and John have already mentioned. Maybe it's just the way the Buffy/Spike relationship panned out over seasons 6 and 7, but it just doesn't seem as funny anymore.
A little disappointing.

spike/buffy in season four: kind of romantic (due to willow spell)
spike/buffy in season six: where did the romance go???? :ermm:

Interesting call. That is one of the reasons I much prefer Riley to Spike as they genuinely tried for something like a real love affair with intimacy a significant factor rather than mere lust.
I suppose with Spike they attempted to show that Buffy was alienated from herself and Spike was merely a convenience to dull the pain. There is something of an interesting idea here but the screwy metaphysics of what Buffy was going through was hard to relate to. How are you supposed to identify with someone who has had a near death experience? Whereas when your boyfriend turns into a monster after he has got what he wants the associated emotions of guilt and betrayal are somewhat easier to understand.
From that I suppose I am beginning to see S6 as an interesting failure rather than a total failure. sk

actually spike did tried a few romantic gesture (a half destroyed box of chocolate for once :ph43r: ) in season six :ermm: before giving up to the demon side (and well use the fact that he was able to hurt buffy)

I thought the absolutely brilliant scene with the box of chocolates where he loses it was I Was Made To Love You(or Crush?) I don't watch the seasons that often so maybe you can have a cogitation? sk

that was between out of my mind (spike dream) and blood ties (where he brought the box of chocolate) ................... it could be triangle

Just been checking my DVDs and it is Triangle where he loses it and then, in Blood Ties, he turns up with the battered box and talks to Dawn.
This kind of confirms what I was on about. Spike did have romantic feelings in a way in S5 but unreciprocated. In S6 finally he made a connection but only in the most base sense. Buffy was trying to feel something and Spike was merely the conduit for that.
It is almost the reverse of the typical way relationships are usually understood. Instead of the male wanting physicality and the female wanting emotional feelings Buffy inverts that picture. I have not really thought about this so I am not sure how far to go with it. sk
