Title: A Good Place To End?
Description: Poll Inspired by JB's on the Buffy page
Mehitabel - July 8, 2006 04:07 PM (GMT)
JB's poll over on the Buffy board got me thinking - so please vote here - it's my first poll, and I'll feel really  if no-one wants to play!
prophecy girl - July 8, 2006 04:19 PM (GMT)
definitly in need of an other season but season five had a good season finale
season three: so/so ending ... angel in a box at the bottom of the sea ........ not really a good end
season four: anything but taking over wolfran and hart but at least they gave a conclusion to connor arc (still i like "Home")
season five: less death maybe  (and no "ghost guy" or a better plot/development for him)
laughitupfuzzball - July 8, 2006 05:20 PM (GMT)
I'll play
Six or beyond in my opinion, it had lots of life left although it would have had to have been away from W&H, maybe back to where they started with little money.
I also wanted to see the Ilyria (sp) Fred thing play out

It should have ended after S4. And no, that's not my anti-Spike bias showing through.
Well, not entirely....
John Brawn - July 9, 2006 05:37 PM (GMT)
I have only watched S5 once so I am not sure but I voted S5 as a suitable end. The quality had become a bit hit and miss though the hits were pretty satisfying. Spike was a problem.
S4 would not have been sufficient 'closure' unless they had a 'closure' arc at the end instead of the Jasmine debacle. That might have been very satisfying.
On the whole Not Fade Away was a fantastic ending probably more satisfying than Chosen. sk

You said it! I was so disappointed the first time I saw the later epsodes of series 4 (compared to the Angelus story)...that I passionately wanted series 5 to bail out its credibility - which, for me, it mostly did. Too rushed towards the very end, but more wonderous Spike twists to gladden any Spikefan's heart... the rest weren't bad, either.
Does ANYONE out there have a good word to say for the poor deluded twerp who dreamed up Jasmine?
'Cos I'd be very happy to hear from anyone who got something out of all that- probably the only chunk of the Buffyverse where I reach for the fast forward button.

didn't the writers rushed the jasmine stuff because they needed a reason for cordie being pregnant (well charisma that is)? :ponder:  still they had to have a reason for cordie/connor at the start of the season ........ :ermm: :ponder:

Now, I accept that dealing with a real-life pregnancy must have been a bit of a crisis for the writers. If Jasmine was the best they could do, I'd love to see the ideas that hit the bottom of the waste-bin (and would probably have prefered most of them, on general principles, towhat we actuall got...)

maybe being staying in the clouds :ph43r: would have been the best idea for cordie .......... at least she was kind of funny at being bored

I liked Season 5. Although the presence of Spike really annoyed me, I thought he was much improved from the later seasons of Buffy. And I grew to enjoy his and Angel's banter... Also the quality of the episodes in season 5 is mostly very high - from You're Welcome onwards the episodes are consistently excellent until the end (apart from Why We Fight, and TGIQ) The first half is weaker but Lineage and Damage are outstanding. And I found the finale very satisfying and miles better than Chosen.
As others have said ending at season 4 wouldn't have worked, not enough closure. I wouldn't have wanted it to go on longer either - didn't like what I'd heard they had planned for season 6.

Couldn't they have just given Cordie a one night stand? Or a dlayed pregnancy by Gru?

I like it!
You should have written it for them!
LLorne would have been a lovely Pylean godfather too.

Seeing how pathetic s5 was, it should have ended at the end of s4, though I probably would have been a bit peeved about it. However I did think Not Fade Away was an ok ending in the circumstances and I think it was definitely for the best to let sleeping dogs lie.

More 'son of Groo'/ but no Groo around would suit me.... nice boy but awfully dim... the sort of guy who, if he had set off to see the world, might have got lost in Milton Keynes (but then, who doesn't?) :whistling:

who end up arrested for acting weirdly each time he saw something new

Happy for you, to be so entirely happy B)
Maybe I'd do a little less nit-picking if the supply was infinite...
TV Crazy - August 7, 2006 09:07 PM (GMT)
It finished really well and i loved Not Fade Away, but the last few eps felt a bit rushed, and there was so much more left to tell, so i thought it could have gone on for another season.
Ems :)
buffy_fan1 - August 12, 2006 02:16 PM (GMT)
As you know I don't much about Angel but I think season 5 raised some really interesting ideas but the finale of the series was so rushed there was a lot of good opportunities missed and a lot stories still to be told.
