Title: Star Trek, Back On The Beeb.
jamiearmour - July 6, 2006 12:12 PM (GMT)
From this Saturday, we're getting not one, but two Treks for our buck.:yahoo:
They are showing the Pilot episodes from The Original Series and The Next Generation.
2.55pm til 4pm:
QUOTE
The Cage: The original pilot episode. Captain Pike of the USS Enterprise is kidnapped by an alien race, the Talosians, who are masters of illusion. They intend that he marry Vina, the only survivor of a starship crash in 2236.
4pm til 5-30pm:
QUOTE
Encounter at Farpoint: Picard and crew try to w**k out how the Bandi inhabitants of Deneb built the Farpoint station.
No official confirmation that this is the beginning of full repeat runs, but I must say, there are two 45 "to be confirmed" gaps for the following week.
Dare we hope??

Scratch that, I just checked the Radio Times site, and there they are on Saturday the 15th as well
I wonder what could have prompted the beeb to think that a family friendly Sci Fi show might stand a chance on a Saturday>>> :ponder: :lmao:

I take it that you are refering to BBC2????
jamiearmour - July 6, 2006 01:51 PM (GMT)
It is of course on BBC2.
Beeb 1 will be showing Wimbledon at the same time.
It sure beats Trek being taken off the air because of the tennis

TNG repeats  Shame I won't be in to watch it .
I had a TNG obsession when I was wee, it'll be nice to see them again.

 it could be good (while zapping for the tennis :) )
John Brawn - July 6, 2006 07:03 PM (GMT)
It says in my Sunday Times guide that it is Star trek followed by Star Trek Generations but I hope it is TNG instead.
S1-S2 :( but after that  sk

Given that we've got the 40th anniversary coming up very soon, I wonder if this is a prelude to something bigger later this year?

Like what?
'Something Bigger'??? You've wetted my appeitite!!!!
But surely it can't BE that big, it might just be another trek night......or just the premiere of Nemesis, which isn't anything to shout about....
Happy to hear about OS repeats but surely not both TNG and OS....I would just put on OS then after its finished show TNG....

Well, why should they only fill up one 45 minute gap in the beeb 2 schedules, when they can fill up two on a regular basis?
And they both have a loyal fan following (even if most of those fans have every episode on vhs/dvd by now)

They could fill two gaps with two episodes of OS, I just think it makes more sense I have enough trouble with Lost, 24 etc... jumbling up my head, it would be nice just to watch 1 Trek show at a time.
I got so confused when they had TNG, Voyager and Deep Space Nine all on in the same week, who is attacking who, are the bajorans in Voyager etc. etc.
You have to agree that watching one show all in a row is easier watching, than watching 2 or 3 spin off shows at the same time!!!
Hahahaha....you reminded be of some guy at a boot fair the other week trying to flog his whole collection of OS, TNG and DS9 VHS sets whole car full of space they took up!!!! (obviously he had the brains not to bother with Voyager)....no-one wanted a look in....especially with the prices, good mind he slashed them to 50p each before the end but still no-one wants VHS!!! Especially a truck load.....( I did take some Trek books off his hand though for a really reasonable price)
I find it funny that in mags like SFX people are trying to sell their Buffy and Angel Vids for £20 half a season or £150 for the lot granted these cost alot at the time but now from Amazon.co.uk you can get them for £18.99 a season on DVD, surely nobody is buying, from these people?
