Professor Fine has unleashed a virus that will kill millions. Clark must put a stop to him, while Lex wonders what happens when he will tell Lana his newest secret.

F*ck me, that was awesome :o

That opening was really quite scary, as the Lex made his way to the field and the ground started to erupt around him :fear:

I liked Clark's sudden realisation that Jor-El might have been trying to protect him - protect all of them - the whole time

The special effect when Lex throws Lionel across the field into the windshield of the car was superb (might have to watch that again in slow motion just to try and see the joins  ).

Clark versus Lex in the barn - yay, about time!

I must admit that the stock footage of riots was kind of jarring, but the scale of the violence in Metropolis was very well done for a tv show. That shot of Lex on the roof of Lexcorp, against the background of Metropolis in flames, was stunning. Why do bad guys always wear long, black leather coats (Paul, take note  )?

As usual, Smallville ends the season with all of the characters' lives in the balance.

Will Martha and Lois survive? :o

What's going to happen to Lionel and Chloe? :o

How the hell is Clark going to get out of the Phantom Zone? :o

:o :o :o

I thought this season was going to be rubbish, it turned out to be brilliant. Let's hope they don't mess it up after all the hard w**k they've done to turn it around :)

After you've seen the episode there's a decent interview with Al Gough here, talking about the finale, how this season shaped up, and what might potentially happen next season

Meh, don't know what all the fuss was about

Oh, OK, yes it was pretty f*ucking awesome :lmao: You were right
I watched them back to back so I'll just put everything here.

I don't know where to start.... :lmao:

Johnathan's "ghost" was :fear: after the lovely man he'd always been but kudos to Clark for realising that his father would never ask him to kill someone and turning on him instead of Lionel  I have to admit I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop with regards to Lionel, I was sure that he was going to turn out to be the vessel or something but it appears, for the time being, that he's on the level

The part where Lex was taken was brilliant  I'd taken my eyes off the screen for a split second when it happenend and I was, like, whoa! I had to rewind to watch it again  All of the action after that was pretty amazing :o As you say, the rioting was done really well for a tv show with a real sense of chaos and fear :fear: Once Lex realised his powers I was praying for a Lex/Clarke fight a la Spike and Angel in season 5  so I wasn't disappointed.

The part where Lana tells Clark that she still cares for Lex even though he's changed and he realises that maybe he could have told her and kept her after all was very poignant :tear: The whole action/emotion mix was done very well

If I had one complaint, it would be that the whole stuck on an aeroplane in peril thing was already done with Lex in the season (2?3?) finale. But, in light of everything else, I'll forgive that :snooty: :lmao:

You're right (remember that, you won't hear it very often from me :lmao: ) this season has been excellent and I desperately hope that season 6 stands up :ermm:

Oh god, how could I have forgotten, too much to process :lmao: Clark, at the end, trapped in space :tear: Fair broke my heart

Oh yes, forgot about that :) Tom Welling may not be the greatest actor in the world but there are some things he does very well such as this, conveying emotions with a slight widening of his eyes. Works every time

Yeah, you're right. And it was the only part of the story that felt "tacked" on, like they weren't sure how to put Lois and Martha in peril so they bolted this sub-plot onto the side of the main story :ermm:

That was just a brilliant image, lump in throat time. Good old Phantom Zone  Bloody "To be continued" <_<

Tom Welling not the best actor in the world? I'm sure I don't know what you mean :snooty:

Oooh, and good for Chloe going for it there when she thought she might never see him again  If that was me, I'd've had him up on that desk doing.................no, let's not go into details :lmao:

Unfortunately, I deleted them after I was done (what was I thinking? ) but I plan to record the repeat on Sunday and watch again

Clark's a bloody idiot - if it had been me I'd've done whatever it is you're talking about with Chloe years ago, sod Lana :naughty: :ph43r:

I've noticed how Chloe's cleavage has suddenly become more prominent this season. Was I not supposed to notice?? She keeps wearing tops with plunging necklines when she's at w.ork! :whistling: :naughty:

OK, I'll let you off.............this time :shifty:

I can't say I've noticed Chloe's cleavage  but clearly The Daily Planet doesn't have a dress code :snooty:

I think it has a superb dress code

And she's got a gorgeous smile, too. Bonus.

Well, she certainly beats wimpy, wet Lana hands down in my book  Maybe Clark will come to his senses in season 6

It doesn't seem fair that everyone else gets all the romantic interest and poor Chloe hasn't even had a sniff for ages :snooty: I think it's time they gave her a love interest <watches as Steve packs suitcase and rushes off to LA>

I'm on my way B)

I would say that Lois comes first, but we know she's got no taste :snooty:

Ah, good one

Watched the finale again yesterday (still ace  ) but I wondered...........if Lex is supposedly dead as Zod said, how come he was on top of the Luthercorp building to meet Lana? Just a coincidence that he was there or is there some of Lex still alive in there?

 I'm not quite sure what you mean

I took it that Zod meant that Lex's personality had been eradicated in order for him to take over his body, but it's obviously not the case, or there'll be some miracle way of retrieving it :ponder:

Sorry, didn't make myself very clear

Before Zod took him over, Lex told Lana that if she still wanted to be with him to meet him on top of the Luthercorp building that night. But, after that, Zod took over his body and said that Lex (assuming his personality/memories etc ) was dead yet he was on top of the Luthercorp building at night to meet Lana. So I was just wondering if it was just a coincidence, which seems unlikely  or whether some part of Lex's memories remain

I'll have to watch it again, but didn't Zod say something along the lines of having a use for her or something?
