Far into the future, someone is archiving video clips pertaining to the fate of Earth and the Interstellar Alliance.

Hmm, very odd episode. Some bits were quite enjoyable though, mainly the clips closer to the date that the alliance was formed.

Anyway, it's been a great season all in all. :) I've heard I shouldn't really look forward to season 5, but I guess I should just tackle it head on, and wait for the (hopefully exciting) conclusion that was going to be dealt with in 4x22 before they got the S5 go-ahead. :)

Given that you've been warned about season five you may find that it's not that bad. I know originally, going into it with all the expectations ramped up through a brilliant fourth season it seemed disappointing to say the least. Every time I've gone back and rewatched season five since though it's not been as bad as I remember. It's not brilliant by any stretch and there are the odd stinkers about, but there are also some pretty good episodes. The last 5 or 6 episodes however shouldn't be included in the above, they're just brilliant and represent the series at it's very best. I've always been of the opinion that despite a lacklustre start to the fifth season Babylon 5 really ends on a high.

Re The Deconstruction of Falling Stars, I always found the most interesting part of the episode to be right at the end. He's Human, he can turn into non-corporeal energy (like Lorien), he has a Vorlonesque encounter suit, and you can bet your bottom dollar that New Earth is actually the Vorlon homeworld

I still think its the most imaginitive piece of TV I've ever seen. Of course it requires full knowledge of the previous 4 years but thats just B5.

I loved the idea of a religion being based on "mythical heroes" and the way the alliance just left earth alone to "get it right" which of course the spine shivering last clip proved did happen in the end.

James - it never occured to me that "new earth" was the Vorlon world - I don't think that mattered anyway - it was just the premise that we'd evolved in a similar direction that was awe inspiring.

I must admit I didn't pick up on it the first time around.

To be fair, I probably shouldn't have mentioned this at this point as at this point in the run it's just speculation. It becomes more apparent at the back end of next year. It's not a major plot point or anything, just a throwaway line in one of the later episodes.

a fantastic ending for this season

i was expecting better after the end of the shadow war: not a big fan of this season :ermm:

a long way to go to introduce the alliance and "save" earth

I recently watched this episode again and it definitely has some fantastic moments. I loved old Delenn turning up at the studio telling him that Sheridan was a good man and turns to walk away. They say you came all this way just to say that and she responds you've come further to say a lot less!

Loved hologram Garibaldi - a priceless scene!

And the whole revealing of the human race a million years from now- Wow !

I have to admit I'm not certain(can't remember tbh) if I put together two and two and realised that New Earth was the Vorlon home world in previous rewatches but I definitely picked it up when I watched it a few weeks back... Mind you on my 5th or 6th watch I definitely should have done.

A terrific end to a fantastic season. I absolutely adore season 4 it has so much going for it from Sheridan's resurrection to the end of the shadow War, the Minbari civil war to the high paced race to save Earth. Having the DVDs I love the extra "season 4 DVD Suite" cramming so many terrific images of the 4 season and then perfectly scored by Christopher Franke(sp?) into what 7 or 8 minutes! absolutely wonderful.

If only they did one for every season and one for the entire show lasting around 35-45 mins. how great would that be.

The giveaway, for me, was the Vorlon-esque encounter suits. It pretty mcuh clicked into place with that, and remembering back to Lyta saying that the Vorlon homeworld was off-limits to them, for now.

Fantastic episode to be sure.

Love the DVD Suite as well, you're right as well, they could have made some truly fantastic ones for Seasons 2 & 3

i was wondering about the vorlon thingie ............. until lyta made the "the vorlon world won't be available to the human race before one million year" comment by the end of season five.
