Title: Best Era / Decade.
Description: Only a bit of fun

Maria - June 1, 2006 10:06 AM (GMT)
Sorry if this has been done but I can't find it. We haven't had any polls for a while so thought I would create an easy peasy one.

I have gone for 60's as I think things were alot simpler lyrically then. No swearing, no head banging, no songs about death, destruction etc. Just nice singy songs!

As an 80's / 90's child I should have picked one but being brought up listening to 60's infuenced me!

LoobiLou - June 1, 2006 10:12 AM (GMT)
80's for me

goth willow fan - June 1, 2006 10:16 AM (GMT)
Absolutely 80's for me - there are albums that I bought in 79-81 that I still listen to constantly.

willowroolz - June 1, 2006 10:21 AM (GMT)
The 70s :headbang: B)

I wouldn't want to disappoint Lisa by saying anything else

prophecy girl - June 1, 2006 10:21 AM (GMT)
80ies for me too

kicking it old school - June 1, 2006 10:25 AM (GMT)
Umm, I'd say 90s, but only cos it's the only decade I've actually lived through in it's entirety. Though to be honest I don't remember much music from it...

The last watcher - June 1, 2006 10:26 AM (GMT)
Was a tricky one, as a lot of the groups I like I started buying albums from in the mid 70's through into the mid 80's...........but I got into a whole new batch of metal bands in the 80's...........so 80's it is.....

The 80s, mainly 'cos I'm going through a bit of a The Smiths phase right now

Can't believe I'm the only one to have said the noughties

I picked it because of the innovations in music with people like Royksopp, Air, Zero 7, while conveniently forgetting the rehashing of 70's and 80's music :D

I would've done, but didn't because there hasn't been a whole decade yet... thought it might be too soon to judge

Maybe because most stuff being produced these days (certainly pop wise) is complete and utter shite (and a good proportion of them can't even be bothered to write a new tune so just rip off - sorry "sample" - another song (usually one from the 80's :whistling: ))
:p

Certainly the noughties is home to a resurgent British music industry :yahoo:

Hippy - June 1, 2006 03:18 PM (GMT)
Voted for the 90's but mostly as a protest against the 80's. (Scum infested big hair, new romantacism cr*p decade that it was)

Not being overly interested in pop/charty stuff kind of counts me out on the favourite music decade front :ponder:

Persephone - June 1, 2006 07:28 PM (GMT)
:p @ Steve

I voted 90's. Tough call between that and the 80's but most of my favourite albums are from the 90's :ermm:

NJS - June 1, 2006 07:54 PM (GMT)
Apart from the 50s and 60s I can't separate the rest of them (though the 00s are disappointing so far).

All those who voted for an era which actually defines their youth rather than thinking about the music (a la Paul) should be banned from the poll :p

If a gun was held to my head I'd say 90s.

Edit: I meant Paul's reasoning was the okay one not the wrong one :)

Maria - June 2, 2006 08:59 AM (GMT)
I enjoyed 80's and 90's but prefer 60's as they were so easy to listen to although being born in 1980 means I had the late 80's to remember and all of 90's.

To be fair you're not wrong - most of my favourite albums came out in the 70s :yahoo:

Although my absolute favourite came out in '81 :ponder:

00's

The music I'm listening to now is the best I've ever listened to. I can't see anything changing that

I don't remember much of the early 70's music wise. 77 onwards was a great time for music....The Stranglers, The Jam, Siouxsie And The Banshees, The Damned etc...

The 80's were fun, but most of the music I listened to back then just makes me cringe now.

90's Bloody Awful, although a lot of good music came about then....I just didn't know about it at the time.

00's What can I say, Music is one of the more important parts of my life. And at the moment I'm in music heaven  Long my it continue :D

willowroolz - October 17, 2006 10:31 AM (GMT)
Still the 70s :snooty:

Although I do have to confess that Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree and Opeth may well have dashed that theory :whistling:

Bad Wolf - October 17, 2006 01:54 PM (GMT)
