Is it any good? American comedies tend to be a bit iffy though there are honourable exceptions. sk
goth willow fan - May 4, 2006 03:27 PM (GMT)
It's pretty typical American comedy fair where large chunks aren't what we might describe as "funny".

Just had a delve -
The first ep was actually on BBC3 on May 1st but is repeated on BBC2 on the 7th.
Presumably that's how they'll continue with eps first being shown on 3 then a week or so later on 2. Though from what I remember of the trailer they were on different nights.
EDIT or you could just read LPs post above
The last watcher - May 4, 2006 03:56 PM (GMT)
Now why would I want to watch that then? :whistling:
Thanks for the info...I had no idea it was coming to our shores....

Apparently there`s some Ginge in it.

I've just seen an advert for it a few minutes ago I didn't even realise what it was for untill I saw Aly sitting on the sofa and at end. Does she have a big role in it? As she was in the advert very much.
Not that matters too much as long Aly is in it I will watch
So is it shown on BBC 3 before BBC 2 every week.

Well - seeing as how she is the "mother" that he "met" I would say yes.

Thanks for that sorry if it was a stupid question I know nothing about the show I don't even know what part Alyson is playing?
goth willow fan - May 4, 2006 11:01 PM (GMT)
Not a stupid question at all :)
John Brawn - May 7, 2006 08:54 PM (GMT)
I vaguely watched the first episode on BBC2 while trying to solve The Sunday Times chess puzzle and I thought it was terrible. With not paying attention all the different characters and confusing voice overs it was hardly a paradigm of clarity. sk
little pixie - May 7, 2006 10:16 PM (GMT)
I liked it enough to want to see the next episode - bit surprised it wasn`t on later on in the evening, it seemed a bit adult at times.
prophecy girl - May 7, 2006 10:53 PM (GMT)
an ok episode to introduce every characters .......... quiet funny in place ..........let's wait for the next episode
goth willow fan - May 8, 2006 08:33 AM (GMT)
First eps are never that great, there's too much character/situation introduction that needs to be done.
Especially if you're only half watching it ;)
Nick - May 8, 2006 08:48 AM (GMT)
It was a bit shit, still it is on series link now though
smellyphagor - May 8, 2006 12:25 PM (GMT)
Oh dear. I used to think anything with AH on would be watchable. But that was so bad, so very very bad. I didn't even make it to the end.
prophecy girl - May 8, 2006 04:37 PM (GMT)
since the beeb throw the cult board away, there is no board for tv serie (but doctor who). i can't find any "how i met your mother" board for the BBC site :ermm:
goth willow fan - May 8, 2006 10:50 PM (GMT)
Second ep was an improvement (couldn't be any worse  )
laughitupfuzzball - May 9, 2006 10:39 AM (GMT)
I watched the first episode, and I must admit I didn't give it my full attention but only because it was so bad I couldn't :ermm:
Outta Sight - May 11, 2006 10:45 AM (GMT)
I've watched the first 2 episodes now and I quite like it :ph43r: Seems a bit contrived but maybe it'll get better as the actors get into their characters
little pixie - May 11, 2006 03:42 PM (GMT)
I`d probably give up on it if it didn`t have The Ginger One in it, who I liked on Buffy. <_<
I think it had a full season in the US and it`s coming back for season 2 , so I expect it improves quickly.
buffy_fan1 - May 21, 2006 09:00 PM (GMT)
I'm suprised at all the negative comments I really liked it (and no not just because AH) I honestly think it is very funny! I laugh a lot, those who know me best will tell you how bad my sense of humour is maybe that has something to do with it.
Does anyone know if is reapeted at any day during the week?
PS Suit Up!
prophecy girl - May 21, 2006 10:27 PM (GMT)
AH trying to be sexy
a funny episode
/is there a "thumbsdown" smiley somewhere? :ponder: :D
Nick - May 22, 2006 08:46 AM (GMT)
Yesterday's BBC2 (1x03) was very funny, looks like it's really finding it's feet. Great stuff

Alyson doesn't need to try to be sexy she just is  Sorry couldn't help myself it had to be said!
I had to laugh at Marshall he was board with studying he was willing drive to Philadelphia? at moment notice just get out of it. :D
Stewie Griffin - May 24, 2006 01:30 AM (GMT)
I'm reserving full judgement at the moment, but the few I've seen are not that bad, but its no Friends either. Time will tell, but I will stick with it for now. :)
Outta Sight - May 26, 2006 08:30 AM (GMT)
I watched this week's BBC3 episode last night, not sure what no. it is  maybe 4 or 5. Anyway, I think it's improved vastly from the first episode and I especially think Neil Patrick Harris is hilarious in it :lmao:
But, as much as I hate to say it cos I do absolutely love her, I don't think AH is very good in it :( Maybe she's just not getting the good lines but I find Lily the least interesting/funny of all the characters

I know you mean Alyson I do like the character as well but I don't think she is getting enough of a chance to show how good she is however the series is just stating at the minute i.e. Lilly & Marshall are the perfect couple and the reason ted wants to get married. As the series moves along I think the characters will come in to there own.
I loved last nights episode on BBC 2, Barney was paying Robin to say stupid things on air as she was so board.
prophecy girl - May 29, 2006 05:02 PM (GMT)
maybe we need more of lily and marshall ..........
ted is ok, but barney is sometime annoying (his game with robin was fun at first but then he was pushing a little too much . )

Well I watched the next episode BBC 3 last night without giving anything away we do get to see about more of Lily and marshall. It was really funny and I'm forward to watching it again on Sunday.
Does anyone else find it a bit odd that in the first couple of episodes that Ted could be around Robin for more then two seconds without saying he loved her and now she is just one the gang there fine with each other?
Does Josh Radnor remind anyone else of Adam Busch? :ponder:
goth willow fan - May 30, 2006 01:02 PM (GMT)
Can't say anybody in the cast reminds me of Adam Busch.
I'm glad I downloaded most of the first season because I missed the last ep both Monday and Sunday
I think Barney is supposed to be kinda annoying
prophecy girl - June 5, 2006 11:09 AM (GMT)
i like last night episode, lily and marshall wanting a normal evening (wine tasting <_< ) as they are now a couple and then both ending up at the club ( :ph43r: at ted telling his kids that lily and marshall told him they jumped three floors without problem). robin and the VIP invitation :lmao: (at least she spoke lily out of the wine testing night)
barney dancing all night long with one girl who end up to be his cousin
the 3 guys waiting outside the club

Is How I Met Your Mother on this week? I've just had a look and it doesn't seem to be on tonight because of Wimbledon <_< has it been moved to another night or do we have to wait till next week to see the next episode?

I wondered that earlier - I had a look at the Beeb guide and on the Radio Times website and it doesn`t seem to be listed for BBC2 or BBC3 for the next two weeks.
