Title: Internet Explorer Trouble
Dan Brown - April 29, 2006 08:22 PM (GMT)
I've tried and cannot for the life of me figure out how to stop this from happening, on different sites where there are images, such as the main page of the doctor who website, everytime I drag my mouse over the picture I get a grey border around it, then if there are hyperlinks imbedded in the picture I have to click twice, once which gets rid of the grey border and again to activate the hyperlink, they borders also seem to show up on programmes like real player, which is really annoying when watching anything.
Does anyone know how to get rid of this problem? I really am bemused....its never done this before and I'm am usually very good with computers.

Sounds like it's to do with your mouse rather than the progs themselves. Maybe reinstalling the mouse driver would help.

Aha....
Found the problem and everyone should be experiencing it when they visit the doctor who website......

Why do I see a message prompting me to “click to activate and use this control” when I roll my mouse over a Flash animation?
This is a result of the latest Internet Explorer update.
Microsoft recently lost a legal battle with a patent holder about the way Internet Explorer displays OBJECTs and EMBEDs in webpages. Microsoft then decided to update its Internet Explorer browser with changes requiring user input to display and activate ActiveX based media.
This affects all Flash animations but also other files such as QuickTime, RealPlayer, Java and Adobe Acrobat among others. It means users have to click the object first in order to activate its functions.

the eolas problem hasn't been introduced to firefox yet... so you could use that, and in turn not support micro$oft :)

teh ultimate solution would be to switch to mepis linuxx and use either komqure or opera if you want to get into browser wrs but if you instit on using windows then opera allw the way. I used to use firefox but ojne the honey moon period was over i awitched roight back to opera and have not looked back since.

been using firefox for a couple of years.. it runs great on ubuntu :) not a fan of opera, tried it a few times, but never got on with it... I like most of the mozilla products. what can I say? not a great deal.. or perhaps too much
I have to ask though, are you drunk?? :p
