What a fantastic ep  , with some of the eps i've seen this season, i wasn't expecting a finale like this i loved it - except for the cliffhanger, i hate those and the waiting for more part .

Liked Daniel being unable to find the right code, so shooting it instead. Also liked it when he said "there's no magic" and then he gets beamed away.

The fight with the Black Knight was good, i'd guessed the girl would pull the sword out after the conversation she had with Mitchell, thought she might fight, glad she didn't though.

I thought Sam was very brave to go onto the Supergate, didn't think it would start up though, and it's worrying that they couldn't beam her aboard, she was just floating in space when all that fighting was going on. I hope they don't forget she's still out there after the battle.

In terms of the battle, things aren't looking so good, they couldn't find the ori weapon, their current weapons seem to have no effect, many goa'uld/lucian alliance ships got blown up. I also thought i saw one of Earths new ships destroyed - which one was it? I'm guessing the Odyssey because Daniel and Mitchell are on the Russian one, but the Russian ship doesn't know Sam is out there floating in space, so either way things aren't looking so good for Earth and the rest of this galaxy.

One of my fave eps of the season

Ems :)

Could be quite an opening next season in the stargate-verse, what with all that's going on in SG1, you've also got 2 hive ships just about to pop up in Earth space as well.

Wasn't terribly impressed with the Lucian Alliance. Teal'c goes out of his way to bring them to the party and they turn up with what, three ships ?!?!?

As I mentioned elsewhere it's going to be interesting to see exactly how they stop the Ori warships without going down the ol' deus ex machina route.

Personally, I think the way they'll take it is to have the Kovalev pick up Sam and then withdraw, allowing the Ori to gain a foothold in this part of the galaxy. I'd then expect early season 10 to deal with SG1's continued search for Merlin's weapon and the defence against the Ori incursion.

Can't really see any other viable way of doing it.

 Great ep, poor Sam, just like a Farscape cliffhanger

I've not really been that impressed by the Lucian Alliance overall, maybe they are just reminding us of their presence for Season 10?

With that finale, it looks like the beginning of season 10 is going to be great.

Still can't believe they destroyed another one of their ships, which also happens to look like the inside of the Prometheus - i wonder why?

Lets hope the Koralev transporters are still w**king.

You see one ship, that definitly looked like the Prometheus destroyed......but the last scene of the battle there didnt seem to be ANY ships left apart from the Ori horseshoe ships...... :o

The only things I thought might be significant were Daniel saying that the stories about Merlin said he could see the future because he aged backwards through time.....so are we going to have another lets go back in time and change the outcome job....?

And whats the importance of Varla's baby..... :ponder:

I saw the episode Crusade and Camelot back-to- back and I found it a disappointing double bill. <_<

What an absolutely awful episode Camelot was! Excluding a few funny moments this episode had very little going for it. Like how on earth did Tealc convince the Lucian alliance so easily? Surely they would take the attitude of how is this anything to do with me blah blah blah and not join the fight.

The special effects/CGI were very poor for such a big battle scene for Stargate let alone a finale. I thought that whole end sequence was very disappointing and I expected much, much better. The battle seemed too static and you couldn't really tell what exactly was going on besides the Ori kicking the crap out of everybody. The music trying to create a more emotional effect just didn't sit right with me and everything felt so derivative. I felt like I'd seen this all before and done better. I half expected to see one of the Earth ships ram into those of the Ori.

As for Vala's baby there are two possibilities in my mind. Firstly the baby could be kind of like the "anti-Christ" or the baby could be "Arthur" returning as prophesied. :ponder:

It was however good to see the Asgard (spelling?) although I would have liked them to make more of an impact against the Ori.

Overall I'm left wondering has Stargate gone on too long? Even with the much-needed injection of new blood Stargate seems to lack the wonder it used to show. :( I say put Stargate out to pasture and let something all new return in its place. :)

that sounds like a fairly reasonable analysis of what is most likely to happen.

 You've got the opposite opinion to me

To be fair, I never gave this show a chance, I never followed it as a series, saw some eps but nothing blew me away. As I used to compare it to Farscape when it was on it didn't really stand a chance, but Farscape as a series is gone and I very much doubt whether we'll see anything that is as quirky and creative again.

Having said that, Stargate is easy viewing for non sci fi audiences, I've noticed a large following in this country. The influx of Farscape actors made me take notice this year and I'm really glad it did.

It's entertaining and I'd rather it continue than have no sci fi on, there are getting fewer and fewer shows in this genre. I'm now going back to the beginning and am on Season 2 now. Season 10 could be great, it seems like they have just made the introductions this year and hopefully will build on them in the next.

I would definitely have some sci-fi rather than none but even a great series would be getting long in the teeth after nine seasons. Stargate while entertaining was never a great series, a good one but never great, and perhaps should have finished when Richard Dean Anderson took his reduced role in the programme. I just think it's time for some fresh blood and hopefully something special. As you said Farscape as a series is gone and it's unlikely that we will see anything like it any time soon. I admit I was nearly giving up on Stargate before Ben Browder joined the cast but it's so frustrating seeing him wasted on such an average series. Claudia black has been given a better role although I find her character overpowering and the episodes she's in lack balance.

I would rather watch something new and hopefully Battlestar Galactica , which is drawing fans for non sci-fi audiences, will push the creators of any new series to go the extra mile like Farscape once did... And hopefully will again on the big screen !

Stargate while entertaining was never a great series, a good one but never great.

I think that sums up SG pretty well. It's middle of the road sci-fi, something that's very easy to get into and to follow.

I'm not sure about it ending after RDA left. If anything what they should have done is probably get rid of a few more of the established characters. It's kind of like The X Files in season 9 when Mulder had gone. The show would have been ten times better had they not kept wedging Scully into the stories in any which way they could.

I've liked the new characters; Browder's character is admittedly only a shadow of Crichton, but he'll do for now, hopefully he'll improve a little next year, but essentially, he'll do. The other newer characters have been alright, Landry especially. If anything what they should be doing is looking for ways to draft out Carter (and along with her the ol' deus ex machina resolutions that she all too often manages to find ), and possibly Jackson. Maybe even Teal'c, but preferably not.

The Replicators and Goa'uld, for all intents and purposes are gone, and the new enemy, the Ori, I've actually enjoyed their arc so far. Not as good as the Replicators were, but vastly better than the yawn-inspiring multitude of Goa'uld storylines that we've seen for the past eight years.
