What explanation has been given for the departure of o'neil the character. I watch all the time and i am worried i missed something :whistling:

He was promoted at the end of the 8th season, becoming the head of 'Homeworld Security', the position that Hammond had previously held that season.

I am asuming by

that you are watching S9, so i am not spoiling you on anything.

It hasn't really been clear on the show, he was in eps 1 & 3 of S9 and had 2 stars on his uniform suggesting a promotion to Major General. I think in one of those eps, they mentioned that he had moved to Washington, i think it was the scene where he was playing chess with Landry. I've read somewhere that he has General Hammonds position of "Head of Homeworld Security".
