Title: Eternity Error?
Morrish - February 18, 2006 03:52 AM (GMT)
Sorry I haven't been here for a while.
Was watching Eternity, cos me and my housemate are watching the show for the first time (for him, alongside Buffy), and the vampire laws are pretty consistant, except he managed to burst in and save the actress in Eternity, without being invited in? Is this just an error, or is there an explanation in the show that I missed?

REBECCA: So -- you never really saw even one single episode of 'On Your Own.'
ANGEL: No.
REBECCA: Huh. Well, stop by. I'll give you a private screening of the episode I -- didn't win the Emmy for.
ANGEL: Thanks for the invitation but -- um... |
When she says "stop by" that serves as an invitation.
Mehitabel - February 18, 2006 11:53 AM (GMT)
Yep- totally agree with that- (like when he first visits Cordelia's place, because she had said whenever I get a place you're invited...or similar. )
Amazing coincidence- I was watching that episode just last night, still an all-time favourite.

Cordy looks at Angel still standing outside the door: “Oh, that’s right you can’t come in. (Angel steps in) Wait! What about the rule?”
Angel: “You said when you got a place I was completely invited over.”
Cordy: “What? I didn’t even have a place then. These rules are getting all screwed up. |

Much more fun for all that way :yahoo:

Doesn't Cordie ever learn? She went to such pains to get Angel 'uninvited' from her car in Buffy and then she goes and randomly invites him into any home she is likely to have!! :lmao:
buffy_fan1 - March 27, 2006 09:49 PM (GMT)
I watched this episode again today and it's the first time I've noticed this as was about to post something when I was saw this.
I don't think REBECCA: Huh. Well, stop by. I'll give you a private screening of the episode I -- didn't win the Emmy for.
I was sure you need to use the words "come in" or "I invite you"
Would Angel even need a invite to get into Cordy's flat? As it only apply's to a living person's home, Dennis's ghost still "lives" there and he was there first. :ponder:

Thats kind of what meant it was Dennis's home and he is dead and so a vampire can come in when they want his ghost still "lives" there so does make a difference wether Cordy's is there?

dennis never owned the house, his mother did. his mother died hence no more owning. the owner is cordie, she bought the house and all.
i just wonder if phantom dennis still has his soul :ponder:

I often wondered what he did with himself once Cordie left. There should have been a closure ep for him. I liked him and always thought the charactor was underused. :(

I always presumed Jane merely wanted him there so she could pun on The Phantom Menace. sk

andrew: i am bored, episode one bored
i wonder if phantom dennis was able to move out of the flat
also the question about the gang moving out cordie stuff and evil cordie never moving back after she came back from "heaven" was because the writers knew they would have had to have phantom dennis react to the fact that cordie was not cordie and they didn't want to spoil the plot too quickly :ponder:

Don't think being murdered, as such, puts it in jeopardy., seemed like a nice boy. Besides, a ghost so helpful and kind (especially with loofahs, etc), is stacking up brownie points in heaven.... :D

Aahh, I miss Phantom Dennis. He really did love Cordie. I still think there should have been a closure for him even if he wasn't even a regular character.

Just a home-loving boy (or locationally inconvenienced entity?)
See Terry Pratchett's Weird Sister for how a ghost gets to travel from place to place, even though it's supposed to haunt the place it died. (You need a witch with abroad sense of humour, a lump hammer and generously sized apron pockets: if it haunts the stones, you smack the wall dwon and go walkabout with a brick or two...)

It would have been a short film if he'd been stuck!
(maybe there are special rules for the sort of walled-up corpse sort of ghost...it's a bit immobilising after all...maybe it's something a ghost doesn't get over?) and maybe, it helps to be Patrick Swayzee?
Cant remember other actual Buffyverse ghosts to compare....

There was teh ghost from I only have eyes for you. Can't think of his name even though it's one of my fave eps.
The Buffyverse didn't really mention Ghosts that much actually.
Oh and  to Patrick Swayze in his younger days.

Not that you're at all UNenlightened- look where you're hanging out cyberwise, for instance!
Not even literary- old Italian welcome 'mi casa, su casa' (my house is your house, make yourself at home, sort of thing) No doubt as seen in many, many jolly mafia flicks...
So- yay for Oz-wit, if a person includes those 4 amongst in very limited Italian vocabulary. Which you do, now, too.
By the way, hi!
