Title: Serenity Comics Collected Edition

jamiearmour - January 27, 2006 10:03 PM (GMT)
It's available now. At least it was in Forbidden Planet Glasgow this morning. It's a slightly smaller than average collection though. The actual pages are about 3/4 the size of the original comic pages, but all of the content is intact (only smaller, obviously  ) But the collection is only £6.99 which for the content is a pretty good price.

Cool so Jamie can you do me another favour ;) I like collecting things :)

jamiearmour - January 27, 2006 10:30 PM (GMT)
Surely you don't want this as well Joe?

Do you know how hard I had to w**k to find the original issues 2 and 3? (well, OK, I didn't have to w**k hard at all, I just went to shop and bought them :lmao: ) It's nothing special, just the same content you already have, but in a smaller package.

prophecy girl - January 28, 2006 02:18 PM (GMT)
 i didn't notice it in forbidden planet london  but then again i was looking for angel comic not firefly comics

If it was so easy to find issue 3, why did I have to send you mine ;)

Is this the collection to which you are referring to?

Serenity Graphic Novel

Good thats what I ordered from my local Waterstones 2 days ago.

I'm also quite interested in getting this.....

Serenity RPG

Has anyone else played it and if so is it any good?

smellyphagor - May 2, 2006 07:43 PM (GMT)
Has anyone actually got this? I ordered this from Amazon ages and ages and ages ago but it never seems to be sent.

Should I cancel the order and go elsewhere? I've not seen it in the shops, but I've not really looked and there are not many shops near me that are likely to stock it anyway.

I've got it now, its very small though slightly larger than A5 size, but the artwork looks astonishing!!!

I probably won't get around to reading it for a while, but it looks well worth it. Good value for money at £7.99 as well considering the comics were £3.50 or something each. And the book is a complete package, and all the comic books I have tend to get ripped, torn etc, so I think its better to have a more durable book....sorry graphic novel.

smellyphagor - May 8, 2006 12:26 PM (GMT)
Ah yes. Got an email telling me it is on its way. Postal service permitting should have it in a couple of days. £5!

smellyphagor - May 14, 2006 09:41 AM (GMT)
Well. That was short. Liked what we had of it, and I liked the art. But it was more of a pamphlet than anything else.

Hovis - May 24, 2006 10:00 AM (GMT)
Received and read it yesterday. and thoroughly enjoyed it. Great stuff!

Ballad of Serenity

We’ve received word that the new Serenity miniseries from Dark Horse will be titled Better Days and will be set during the Firefly TV series. Why?  It’s said to explore some plotlines that weren’t used in the original series. As expected, Joss Whedon will be co-writing this one with Brett Matthews, his collaborator on the first Serenity mini. No word yet on the artist, but Adam Hughes is rumored to be doing the covers.

As for stories that take place after the Serenity feature film… the success of the Serenity DVD may allow for a true sequel to be made. It’s just talk at this point, there are no deals and no guarantees…

But there’s still hope…

Joss Whedon - "Serenity - Better Days" Comic Book - Brett Matthews Comic-con.com Interview

THE PULSE: What other projects - in or out of comics - are you w**king on?

MATTHEWS: Joss Whedon and I are just starting up the second round of Serenity comics, a little thing we’re calling BETTER DAYS. w**king with him is the best — you learn so much and it’s fun - and, occasionally, very, very humbling. The guy is such a genius, and that’s the least original thing I could ever say about him, because everyone does. So let me add that he’s just a hell of a good guy, too.

"Serenity : Better Days" Comic Book to come out on Fall 2007

Brett Matthews answers :

(...)

You’ve got a new Serenity comic coming out too, correct?

Serenity will be out from Dark Horse pretty soon. It’s coming along with Joss Whedon and I. It’ll be a story called “Better Days.” It will come out, probably, in the later half of this year, September and on. I really like the story we’re doing-but obviously, just being in that universe again is really great.

SERENITY: THOSE LEFT BEHIND

Written by Joss Whedon and Brett Matthews, art by Will Conrad, colored by Laura Martin, cover by Adam Hughes.

Dark Horse's biggest hit of 2006 is now available in a special-edition hardcover! Joss Whedon, the pop-culture mastermind behind Buffy the Vampire Slayer, bridged the gap between his cult-hit Firefly TV series and his Serenity motion picture with this three-issue miniseries.

Penned by Whedon and Brett Matthews, a Firefly show writer, the ragtag crew takes on a scavenger mission with the promise of a big payoff. Only too late do they realize the gig is orchestrated by an old enemy eager to remake their acquaintance.

Sporting a new cover by Adam Hughes, this oversized collection shows off the work of penciller Will Conrad and colorist Laura Martin, and the array of pinups by phenomenal guest artists. In addition, over a dozen backup pages delve into the work and art behind the scenes -- original material assembled especially for this hardcover edition.

96 pages, $19.95, in stores on Nov. 14.

The Hardback editions are usually brilliant, with lots of bonus stuff crammed in.

Think of them as the SE DVD releases as oposed to the VHS like paperback editions

Oh, and look, it's being released on the same day as it's sequel :o How cunning
