Title: Serenity Dvd?
Description: Region 1 or 2?
buffy_fan1 - January 24, 2006 09:44 PM (GMT)
Ok as Firefly fan I'm ashamed to admit I still haven't bought Serenity on DVD yet  I was wonder should I buy it on region 1 DVD or wait until the region 2? I know that US DVDs sometimes have different extras on. I don't know which version to buy, if the extras are different is it worth buying both.

The Region 2 version has one more extra then the Region 1 DVD, a 20 minute documentary called 'A Film Makers Journey' which shows how Joss got Firefly from TV to the big screen.
Just to confuse matters even more, the Region 4 Australian DVD has even more extras, including a Q&A with Joss and a documentary on Jack Green.

The region 4 looks really good. I've got the region 1, it came really quick from playusa.com and I'll get the region 2 also  even considering the region 4 :lmao:

I'll stick with my R1, I'm not bothered about different extras that I may watch once at most.

I could see why you would want the region 4 DVD (especially the tin version :) ) but what's the point in getting the region 2 especially since you already own the region 1? Isn't the extra that's on the region 2 on the region 4?
I have the region 3 which looks exceptionally cheap for a region 3 DVD. :( I think, although I'm not certain it's got the same extras as what the UK region 2 DVD will have. I really should do a comparison with the list on the back of my DVD and compare it to what should be on the region 2 DVD. :ponder:

| The London Times reviews the Serenity R2 DVD. they give the DVD 4 stars out of 5 and cock a snoop at George Lucas by saying "it is quite possible for the writing to be as lively as the visuals". |

Outta Sight - February 27, 2006 11:21 AM (GMT)
Mine arrived this morning  But my bruv is pinching it first since I won't have time to watch it before the weekend (I think).
Dan Brown - February 27, 2006 02:22 PM (GMT)
Got Mine.....Going to attempt to watch it this evening!
Cause I Aim To Misbehave!
I also like the fact it has a sticker on the pack stating:
'Film of the year as voted by Film 2005' plus FREE Laser Quest game (but you probably have to play several games anyway which you have to pay for, plus Paintball is much better and those places smell funny)
Fangy and grrr - February 27, 2006 03:03 PM (GMT)
Mine arrived this morning.

Universal delivers Serenity to HD DVD Firefly
Sci-fi adventure first from studio on high-def format on April 18
APRIL 10 | Universal Studios Home Entertainment appears poised to become the second studio to release films on HD DVD. The studio will debut Serenity on April 18 as its first HD DVD release, followed a week later by Apollo 13 and Doom, according to retailer Web sites.
Universal hasn’t made any announcements and a spokeswoman was unable to confirm anything Monday morning. However, all three films are available for preorder at Amazon.com for $23.99 and for the same price on Target.com’s video store, which is run by Amazon.com. Amazon shows the list price of the disc at $34.98.
CircuitCity.com also has the discs listed for preorder, priced at $33.95, but the site has no release date for the film.
At least one rental retailer also confirmed it has placed orders with Universal for its initial April HD DVD releases, though as of last week, the retailer hadn’t been given a release date for the titles.
Warner Home Video announced last month that it would debut its first three HD DVD titles on April 18, after delaying its planned March 28 release. Warner will debut Million Dollar Baby, The Phantom of the Opera and The Last Samurai April 18, followed by a dozen other releases into May.
Paramount Home Entertainment, the only other studio to commit to HD DVD releases, has not yet announced any release plans.
