Title: Iriver Help?

Long shot- but does anyone have or know anything about the iRiver h120?

The Database feature allowing searching by artist/album/genre (everything except filename basically) doesn't w**k properly unless the Databse has been updated while the player is connected to a computer running Windows 2000 or higher. I've just upgraded from Windows 98 to XP, but it's not w**king, although it's worked in the past with other people's computers running XP.

Don't know the first thing about the "iRiver h120" but what might w**k is changing the compatibility of the program.

Is this database on your iRiver or on the computer? Whatever software it uses, go into it's folder on your computer, find the .exe file, right click -> properties -> Compatibility tab and then in the drop down box, change it to run under Win98/2000 settings.

It's a long shot but you never know?

Its one of the things that got installed with the installation CD, but as far as I know it's not tangibly on the computer (is it obvious I don't know how to use these things?), it seems to exist merely as an option when the iRiver is connected to the computer.

It didn't w**k with Windows 98, only with 2000 and XP on other computers, but now I have XP on my computer it doesn't. It hates me! *sob*

Forget what I said, I read your post wrong, thinking you had Win2000 and upgraded to XP and it then stopped w**king right

I'll go sit in the corner for 10mins...

Lol, don't worry about it- at least you can operate a computer without falling over!

Thanks for trying to help. :)

Have you tried reinstalling the software?

Yup I did.

I'm not really sure what it could be, I might try to find a different DB tool or something.

If all else fails there should be a way of reseting everything to the factory settings, of course you would loose all the music currently on the player and have to reload it but at least it should w**k

I might give that a try, loading music doesn't take that long and I have all the music on my PC anyway but it's only 20 GB and there's more than that on my PC so I'd have to sort through stuff...

I'm pretty sure it's on all the right settings though, I even downloaded a copy of the manual so I could make sure.
