Title: Dvd Update

Crichton Kicks - June 25, 2004 09:15 PM (GMT)
Updates for both the Collected Movies release as well as Crusade;

Quotes taken from TVShowsonDVD;

QUOTE

On the movies DVDs, and what's inside: the main thing is that we've got commentaries on literally every one of them. Mike Vejar and I did a commentary on In the Beginning, I did one with John Iacovelli on The Gathering, and another with Janet Greek and Tracy Scoggins on River of Souls. I can't remember now if I solo'd on A Call to Arms or if Mike was there as well (it all blurs after a while...I've done something like fifteen of these things by now).

There's a separate cast commentary on Thirdspace with, I think, Pat, Jeff, Jesus Trevino, and one or two others.

Babylon 5: The River of Souls (1998)

(I did) another with Janet Greek (Director) and Tracy Scoggins ("Captain Elizabeth Lochley") on River of Souls

Babylon 5: A Call to Arms (1999)

I can't remember now if I solo'd on A Call to Arms or if Mike (Vejar, Director) was there as well (it all blurs after a while...I've done something like fifteen of these things by now).

On the Crusade DVDs, there's one commentary I did on the original pilot (once WB and I came to a meeting of minds, to wit, "I'm gonna say what happened to the show, what *really* happened...you got a problem with that?"). There's a second commentary track with Fiona (Avery, writer and reference editor), Janet (Greek, Director), Peter Woodward ("Galen") and Carrie Dobro ("Dureena Nafeel").

Sounds good.

Not too long to wait I guess, and plenty of time to save up :)

Phillip Culley - July 17, 2004 06:46 PM (GMT)
And the R2 Movies set moves further and further back...

New release date of 27th September.

Have they confirmed yet that the set will include THE GATHERING and IN THE BEGINNING ??

Everytime I've seen it listed it's just RIVER OF SOULS, THIRD SPACE and A CALL TO ARMS.

Actually for me, the date change is quite good, there's already far too much coming out in the next few months to strain the old card ;)

Seemingly not - the latest press release here still says it has the 'final 3' movies.

goth willow fan - July 18, 2004 09:20 AM (GMT)
Damn, it was sure implied before that it was all the movies except for TLOTR. :(

Crichton Kicks - July 18, 2004 09:59 AM (GMT)
Sounds to me like I'll be getting the Region 1 release then, which does include them all doesn't it ??

Damned odd, if the R2 version doesn't. You'd have to think that it would be easier for them just to churn out the same versions on either side of the Atlantic

Phillip Culley - July 18, 2004 05:36 PM (GMT)
As far as I know, the R1 set always had the 5 films on it, and as a result we assumed the R2 set would have the same, with the initial listings of just the final 3 being an old idea which was amended.

Seems we were wrong :(

Phillip Culley - July 27, 2004 07:29 AM (GMT)
Addendum to the DVD commentaries - Thirdspace has Stephen Furst (Vir)as well, and Call to Arms is JMS with Jesus Trevino (Director(?).

Also, Call to Arms has a 'Making the Feature' extra.

Plus Amazon have a pre-order price of £22.99...

Now here's an interesting twist courtesy of the BBFC:

BABYLON 5: THE MOVIES - THE GATHERING : INTRODUCTION TO THE GATHERING

goth willow fan - July 27, 2004 08:54 PM (GMT)
What's so interesting about it?

Phillip Culley - July 27, 2004 09:01 PM (GMT)
Well, the BBFC have rated an extra for The Gathering (which is in the R1 box set), even though it's not in the R2 set.

This potentially means the press release saying that the movie set will have the last 3 movies is in error, and we may well be getting all 5 in the set!

goth willow fan - July 27, 2004 09:44 PM (GMT)
Ah right, sorry it didn't click :)

Great if that is so

Crichton Kicks - July 27, 2004 11:09 PM (GMT)
I think if the issue isn't resolved by the time the R1 set comes out next month I'll just end up getting that one instead.

Phillip Culley - August 18, 2004 11:31 PM (GMT)
From what I've heard, we should just all go for the US set - apparently it's encoded for Regions 1,2,3 and 4!

Crichton Kicks - August 19, 2004 05:06 PM (GMT)
Well I'm going for the R1 set, Warner UK can shove it up their @rse :)

Phillip Culley - August 19, 2004 05:14 PM (GMT)
Would have picked it up yesterday, had the bloody store had any in stock...

Crichton Kicks - August 19, 2004 05:16 PM (GMT)
Haven't ordered my copy yet. It'll have to wait a little while, I've already got Roswell S2 and The Shield S2 to snap up next week ;)

I'll get them in time to coincide with the big B5 rewatch :)

Phillip Culley - August 20, 2004 09:59 PM (GMT)
Movie box set is pretty...

Movie box set is mine :)

And it only cost me about £25 :D

goth willow fan - August 20, 2004 10:01 PM (GMT)
Sounds like R1 is the way to go for the Movie set, then.

Crichton Kicks - August 20, 2004 10:53 PM (GMT)
£30 from Loaded247 will do :)

Although I'm hanging off just for now. The Shield Season 2 is taking priority

Phillip Culley - September 8, 2004 01:17 AM (GMT)
I wouldn't hold my breath on the UK movies set and the S5 set - the movies has been pushed back to January 12th, and the S5 set to February 28.

6 more months till we get S5?

Crichton Kicks - September 8, 2004 07:01 AM (GMT)
R1 S5 it is then

willowroolz - September 8, 2004 11:26 AM (GMT)
Looks like it. What are they playing at?

At this rate we'll either get the Crusade boxset before the S5 set, or, six months after it

Warner UK - F*ckwits.

Actually scratch that. Amazingly, this works out better for me. Less expense before Christmas. I'm d/l the R1 S5 DVD-Rips in the meantime, which means I can flog the S5 VHS Boxset to my Brother to part finance the D$9 S5 set. Hurrah
