Dr Spock, Captain Kirk and the crew of the Starship Enterprise are the characters most people want to see return to their TV screens, according to a survey of most missed programmes.
Star Trek topped the poll of more than 1,000 TV fans, commissioned by Home Media Networks, just beating Buffy the Vampire Slayer to the top spot  .

The sitcom Friends came third in the survey, followed closely by Fawlty Towers. Seinfeld, The A-Team, Only Fools and Horses, Red Dwarf, Tomorrow's World, The Avengers, and Cheers all won places in the list of top 20 most missed programmes.

Originally broadcast in the US in 1966, it topped a poll of more than 1,000 viewers commissioned by UK interactive TV firm Home Media Networks.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer was second, followed by Friends.

Star Trek's latest spin-off TV series, Enterprise, was axed in February following poor ratings.

Star Trek also spawned 10 movie spin-offs, the most recent being Nemesis in 2002.

Sitcom Fawlty Towers was the highest ranking UK show in the list, in fourth place.

Sci-fi shows featured heavily in the top 10, including UK series Blake's 7 and US shows Babylon 5 and Stargate.

Popular US sitcom Seinfeld, which spawned ongoing series Curb Your Enthusiasm, was in ninth place.

Is this the best endightment of Channel 4 yet in that Stargate is named when its still going?

Some decent shows but I don't think any of them would w**k as a comeback.

Another pointless poll of a 1000 people, a law should be passed to say the minimum number of people that have to be asked is 100000.

Of the shows listed I'm sure another Star Trek will be rolled out sooner or later. And I always thought a 10 years on series of Friends would be nice, though 'Joey' has spoilt that a little.

it takes less time to ask 1000 people (if you have 5 interviewer) than 100 000 (especially if you have a dead line) unless they e-mail the poll :ponder:

I don't care for Star Trek too much, but bring back Red Dwarf. There's an empty slot barely covered by a rubbish 'Hyperdrive'
