Being the sort of viewer that dips in and out of this show, I was wondering if anyone could give a brief overview of the past Smallville series'.

I watched the whole of the first one, some of the second but I have no idea what I've now seen thats either 2nd,3rd or 4th season!
This is mainly due to the fact that I turn on E4 or E4+1 or C4 and just watch it if it happens to seem like an interesting episode.

I couldn't give a t0ss about episodes about american football and the weirdo of the week type stuff they seemed to do in the first ep.
The character/relationship development stuff is always done really well though.
If anyone can be arsed doing this then cheers.

I'd just like to know where the episode that I'm watching happens to be in the whole Smallville storyarch.

I am in a similar boat as I have watched the episodes on Ch4 but what they are doing with the later seasons heaven knows. Once Enterprise has finished maybe they will put Smallville in the vacant slot.

My general feeling is that the series is not a patch on Buffy with the scripts often needing a general injection of something or other. It is also has that American blandness about it which is not very appealing but I do love the homoerotic subtext which makes Xena look like Terry and June.

Allison Mack is the very definition of yummy. sk
