Title: WB Denies Wonderfalls Rumor

LoobiLou - April 26, 2004 04:01 PM (GMT)
TV Guide Online rebutted reports that The WB was considering picking up Fox's canceled fantasy series Wonderfalls for the fall season. "It's not true," a network source told the site.

Earlier rumors had suggested that the frog network was going to view the critically acclaimed but low-rated show's pilot with an eye to picking it up. Wonderfalls starred Caroline Dhavernas as an aimless young woman who finds inanimate objects speaking to her.

Persephone - April 26, 2004 04:44 PM (GMT)
Their loss, stupid network

Crichton Kicks - April 26, 2004 07:52 PM (GMT)
I've got the first 4 episodes but haven't gotten around to watching them yet. It sounds similar to JOAN OF ARCADIA, although I understand it's not THAT similar.

I never really get surprised when FOX cancels shows anymore. Isn't TRU CALLING a FOX Show ?? Still on the bubble, wonder which way that one will go ?? :(

TV Yank - May 8, 2004 07:10 PM (GMT)
I shouldn't have been surprised but I did register disappointment at the news. The WB made a point of clarifying the situation which is laudable (even if their decision isn't).

I've managed to survive with just two episodes (the third and fourth were taped over because I didn't like them as much). If I had to estimate the number of times I've seen them, it would be going on fifty.

It has made Caroline Dhavernas a name, despite the show's failure. Somehow, I don't think her career (nor Katie Finneran's, who played her sister) will remain stalled.

Crichton Kicks - May 8, 2004 07:32 PM (GMT)
Fifty times ?? Good God John ;)

Incidentally, how many episodes have been show there now, I thought it was four but Suprnova are carrying 1x06 for download at the moment. Has this one been shown over there ??

Further to that Suprnova is also carrying Jake 2.0 1x13. I know they showed upto and including episode 1x12 over there, but it looks as though Sky One have now overtaken them and look set to show all the filmed episodes.

Nice to see you here John :)

Fifty times ?? Good God John ;)

I know <sob> I'm pitiful. And I'm gonna watch them again as I eat dinner. <sob>

At least I'm being exposed to quality acting and writing. It doesn't hurt that Caroline Dhavernas is soooo nice too drool over. I only wish she got to use her natural French-Canadian accent--it's so pretty.

I've put my obsession to good use: I've contributed to TVTOME.com's webpages on the show.

BTW, only four episodes of WONDERFALLS were broadcast. If I didn't have a modem connection, I'd be downloading those others.

Crichton Kicks - May 9, 2004 01:11 AM (GMT)
I feel rather guilty now having all four sitting here unwatched :(

Perhaps I'll wait until more become available. I'm not particularly good with short-lived shows myself, I tend to get rather attached to them and then sulk when I have no more episodes to watch. Earth2 is one particular example that springs to mind, Firefly is another obvious one. And I'm still absolutely gutted over Jeremiah

I've no idea where this sixth episode has come from, as the fifth one isn't available and as far as I know, no one's even show it yet ?!?!?

Persephone - May 9, 2004 07:19 AM (GMT)
Hey there TV Yank, it's good to see the nice people from the Beeb joining us, welcome

Crichton Kicks - May 9, 2004 03:37 PM (GMT)
Incidentally John, episode 1x07 has just gone up as well.

Apparently a DVD rip ?!?!?

Where are these episodes coming from ?!?!?

Persephone - May 9, 2004 05:51 PM (GMT)
There's going to be a screening of a couple of unaired eps in LA on June 18. I don't know whether they'll carry on from what has been broadcast, but I suppose we can assume that these too would be put up on the net at sometime. It would be sod's law if they're eps already available online. <_<

Crichton Kicks - May 9, 2004 06:21 PM (GMT)
Does anyone know how many were actually filmed before the plug was pulled. Form memory I think it was a fair few towards the 13 episode order, it may even have been all of them.

Persephone - May 9, 2004 06:30 PM (GMT)
They did make 13 episodes in total, 4 aired, 9 unaired. I think there's a campaign somewhere for a DVD release.

Crichton Kicks - May 9, 2004 06:35 PM (GMT)
I'm sure John will be more than happy with 13, given that he's probably near to wearing out his 4 episodes so far :)

TV Yank - May 16, 2004 03:02 AM (GMT)
(Oops. I forgot to track this thread. I didn't know about the recent posts.)

I'm wearing out the first 2 episodes since I taped over the 3rd and 4th already (the 3rd was really, really bad :weird: ).

Yeah, 13 episodes total were filmed. Four broadcast in the U.S.--but I understand that they continued broadcasting the rest in Canada (it's filmed in Canada with a large Canadian cast).

I've found a few Dhavernas films. EDGE OF MADNESS (with ROSWELL's Brendan Fehr as her vicious husband), the awful comedy OUT COLD. Both have her natural French-Canadian accent. She has a tiny part in LOST & DELIRIOUS, another Canadian film with Mischa Barton (of THE OC) but neither are part of the film's central lesbian relationship.

It's really strange, I was reading this month's issue of TV ZONE yesterday and they reviewed the first three episodes. They slated the first two episodes yet felt the third was the one where the series began to pick up

I don't particularly agree with a lot of their reviews though.

I'm really going to have to get around to checking it out soon. Got hold of episodes 6 and 7 last week. As soon as I get a few more I'll have a bash. I like to have a run of episodes to go at :)

Nice to see Bill Sadler back on TV though, even if it is shortlived :(

Brendan Fehr was simply superb in Roswell, I'm still amazed that none of the regulars over there have gone on to great things after the series finished :(

TV Yank - May 16, 2004 06:26 PM (GMT)
Where do you download those WONDERFALLS episodes from, James?

I've seen ROSWELL people on TV. K Heigl made a decent made-for-TV movie as a pioneer widow who marries immediately for convinience, plus a TWILIGHT ZONE appearance (I missed another TV movie that was broadcast a few months ago). Majandra's TV movie CELESTE IN THE CITY (wth Nick Brendan) was originally broadcast a month or two ago, and gets rebroadcast on that particular cable network. BUFFY and ROSWELL's Julie Benz had the lead role in a tv movie recently. She impressed me with her ability to carry the movie but I didn't care much for the film.

Either TV Torrents or Suprnova John. For either you'll need a Bit Torrent Client, but you can get that from the official Bit Torrent website. It's easy to use, you just click on "save as" for any of the torrents you want to pull off either of the above two websites and then it saves the torrent. Then, where ever you've saved it to, just go there and click on the torrent, and it'll ask where you want to store the download. Simply choose a location and it then begins to download the torrent to this location. Most of the torrents you'll find are MPG or AVI files although you may come across the odd one which is a Winrar file. Both the Wonderfalls one's are regular files though, you should just be able to download and play assuming you have either DivX Player or Windows Media Player.

If you need a hand give me a shout ;)

On Roswell, I'm sure at the time I heard rumours that the cast weren't that keen to return for a third season as they wanted to pursue movie projects. It obviously never panned out for them to any great degree. Brendan Fehr had a bit part in the original FINAL DESTINATION but can't remember seeing any of the others over here :(

Although of course, with the success of the DVDs there's now the obligatory ROSWELL movie rumours.

TV Yank - May 16, 2004 08:44 PM (GMT)
Brendan Fehr was in BIKER BOYZ, as well. I think there was another. I haven't seen any of the ones Shiri was in.

I think one of the reasons that many of the cast resisted a third season is that they knew they were trapped in an unsuccessful show and wanted to move on to anything else. Plus they don't want to be tainted as the "star" of a tv show few people wanted to see (making them seem unable to draw viewers--however accurate).

Crichton Kicks - May 16, 2004 10:00 PM (GMT)
It's a shame. If anything it began to show in the third season. IMO it's by far the weakest season.

Persephone - May 17, 2004 10:45 AM (GMT)
I only saw the third season once, and I missed a few episodes, I wish Sky would repeat it :(

Crichton Kicks - May 17, 2004 05:09 PM (GMT)
I don't think Sky have it any more. More likely would be a complete repeat of the series on Sci-Fi.

According to SaveWonderfalls.com, 20th Centruy Fox is interested in releasing the 13 episodes of Wonderfalls on DVD. There aren't many details since the release would come around Christmas, but we wanted to let everyone know (we received a few emails about this today).

This wouldn't be the first time Fox has released a "failed" TV show on DVD; they released Joss Whedon's Firefly, which were quickly snapped up by the fans.

I hope this is true. I really liked the first four episodes.

goth willow fan - May 26, 2004 09:27 PM (GMT)
I haven't got round to watching them bar a skim through the first one.

Persephone - May 26, 2004 09:27 PM (GMT)
It's on whedonesque too, fingers crossed

Michelle - May 26, 2004 09:29 PM (GMT)
Oh, and how come the board is not on UK time? I got a shock when my last message said 11.25pm. I thought "I haven't been on the net that long, have I?". ;)

goth willow fan - May 26, 2004 09:30 PM (GMT)
You need to adjust the time in "board settings" to GMT with daylight saving active.

Michelle - May 26, 2004 09:31 PM (GMT)
Jeez, Paul, you have been busy. How did you manage to amass 147 posts in 3 days? :o

goth willow fan - May 26, 2004 09:33 PM (GMT)
:D I did say my feet were well and truly settled in :D

Persephone - May 26, 2004 09:37 PM (GMT)
You think that's bad, I've got over 1200 in 1 month

Aha. Thanks Paul. :)

Just got logged out, and was a bugger to log on again. Think it was cos I had found out you had the domain culttvboards, so chnaged my bookmark to that, and then it had a cookie issue. Have gone back to the old link rather than messing about. Ah well...

Yay, 2 mins til the last ep of 24 is downloaded. :D Feels weird to actually be allowed to type "downloaded" in full, without fear of getting a post removed.

goth willow fan - May 26, 2004 09:59 PM (GMT)
I haven't been getting 24 this year - is it any good?

Michelle - May 26, 2004 10:06 PM (GMT)
Yeah, it is. Well, I think so anyway. B)

Still probably not as good as S1, but its at least up there with S2 (minus the Kim being exceedingly dim bits, so possibly better ;)). There's been a number of shocking events and most episodes end with me being impatient for the next one.

goth willow fan - May 26, 2004 10:08 PM (GMT)
Ah well, I may try and catch up then.

Although I still haven't watched any more Angel :)

How far are you with Angel Paul?

goth willow fan - May 26, 2004 10:16 PM (GMT)
Damage is the next one for me to watch (and has been for several months)

Michelle - May 26, 2004 10:18 PM (GMT)
Just noticed your sig, Lisa. Thats one of my fave NIN tracks. :)

La la la, should be watching 24 (well, that or going to  ), but this board is kinda addictive....

goth willow fan - May 26, 2004 10:20 PM (GMT)
Now you see why I got so many posts so quickly?

Phillip Culley - May 26, 2004 10:29 PM (GMT)
Once it gets in the sales, I'll fork out for 24 S2 - I'm just a cheapskate really :)
