A Dangerous Allegiance.
Intro
Meanwhile on Hyneria Rygel was pacing up and down the marble floors of the campaign room on his thronesled. Paintings of former Dominars surrounded him and he looked away from their judgemental gaze.
“It’s happening all over again, I can feel it, why couldn’t this have happened to my cousin” he mumbled.
On his return to Hyneria he had expected arns of lectures as to his somewhat dangerous and unannounced journey to the space station. Instead however he was greeted with the news that the Charrids were mounting an increasing number of attacks on Hyneria and intelligence being gathered suggested they would soon declare war. The Charrids had broken free of the Scarran Peacekeeper alliance and were acting for once on their own. The Hynerian Navy was unprepared for an all out war and they desperately needed time that they didn’t have.
He needed someone to buy him that time and he had called the one person he had hoped never to see again.
“The carrier is in orbit and he has arrived your majesty.”
A dark shadow appeared at the entrance of the room and the familiar black armour appeared.
“Rygel it’s been too long” the crossbreed gave a shudder inducing smile.
“Scorpius” The Dominar knew he would live to regret his decision but the fate of billions depended on him.
Part 1
The cadaverous appearance of the Scarran sebacian hybrid was misleading as Rygel had witnessed several times it took a lot to take him down, it wasn’t his physical strength that was intimidating, it was his intellect and his ruthless drive. He used death as just another tool to get results although there were times he found it pleasurable. Rygel had more reason than most to fear Scorpius because he had come to know him, there was no heart under the hard black shell there was nothing except vengeance.
He did however make a formidable ally, after the peace treaty with the Scarrans had been signed Grayza was removed from command and placed in a nominal role, although she hadn’t faced any charges she was still an embarrassment to them and was swept away. Scorpius however was always invaluable to the Peacekeepers, he had the measure of the Scarrans, and was the best intelligence gatherer that had ever served them even if he was a hybrid. He had been right all along to pursue the human John Crichton and could still be useful in learning his secrets. So Scorpius had once more been given unlimited resources to strengthen the Peacekeepers position.
Despite an intense hatred of him, Rygel could w**k with Scorpius, he knew what to expect from him even though his presence still rattled him. He wasn’t betraying that though, he’d made sure to sport his most elegant gowns laden with royal gems ( he had changed several times in his chambers to make sure he looked suitably regal ) and his face showed no trace of fear. He had the advantage of being on home ground and made the most of displaying of the power he now had as Emperor once more.
He opened his stubby little arms towards his enemy and raised his hovering throne sled so that he looked down on Scorpius.
“On behalf of my Empire I thank you for coming, I have a matter to discuss with you that I believe will be mutually beneficial.”
Scorpius’ dark mouth up turned at the sides, the nearest thing to a smile although it was certainly not intended in friendship, he was assessing the diminutive Hynerian, his presence was an unexpected request and he was willing to hear the creature out.
“As I am sure you are aware the Charrids are acting in their usual barbarous fashion and have made several attacks on my people which of course I will not suffer, if I must I will lead my people in war but I would rather avoid bloodshed, there is another way to address the problem and that is why I have asked for your assistance.”
“Rygel” Scorpius slowly breathed out his words “Of course the Peacekeepers would assist you however the treaty that has been signed…”
Rygel cut him short, his tone becoming more blunt.
“I didn’t ask for Peacekeeper assistance, I asked for yours, the Charrids are a remarkably unintelligent species, they do not understand the art of subterfuge, I am confident we can cripple them before they mount a full scale attack, barring myself you are the most wretched devious being I have ever come across and have the very skills I need.” He paused for effect “In return I guarantee communications with Crichton and of course our assistance to the Peacekeepers in the future.”
Rygel knew he had struck upon the very thing that would ensure the aid he needed from Scorpius. After the peace treaty had been signed John and Aeryn had taken their child and had gone into hiding neither the Scarrans or Peackeepers had been able to find them.
“I will assess the situation first, perhaps I may be able to assist, I will be in contact shortly, I am pleased you asked for my personal assistance”. Scorpius could not hide the delight on his face even though it looked like a skeletal grimace that belonged in nightmares. He left the room but the air of tension remained.
Rygel dismissed his servants and flew to his chambers as fast as his thronesled could take him and collapsed onto his royal bed. He gruntled orders over his comms
“Bring me food, I need sustenance now!”
:o How dare he!!!
John and Aeryn will kill the little toad
Unless they are in on it :ponder:
I was wondering how long we would have to wait until you started the next of your farscape fics  See how good I was, I hardly ever bugged you about it ;)
