Title: Episode 5.05
Psycho Jack - November 1, 2005 02:26 PM (GMT)
I can't believe Garner is still in the field. She is so very pregnant.
Okayish episode again.
Sloane is being used, good-looking new bird is fitting in, new bloke is kicking arse (doesn’t he look a bit like Charlie Sheen?!) and ugly new bird is doing okay too. I guess she is kind of substituting in for all the stuff Garner won’t be able to do from now.

:o That Sloane is a bad, bad man. I can't believe Jack let him back in, again  Agreed, Syd should not still be going on missions.. she's about to pop!
The new bloke is fab   and he does look a lot like Charlie Sheen now you mention it!

Not bad. I'm getting into this season more than I thought I would. It's perhaps a better start than S4, cos at least there's an arc, which I prefer to the standalone nature of the first half of last season.
It's still quite weird without Vaughn though. :ermm:
Boo, hiss @Sloane! It'll be interesting to see how far down the evil path he goes, or whether he'll try and thwart the bad guys if his only motive for joining them is to try and save Nadia. Who, by the way, I also didn't know wouldn't be in this series...unless she wakes up later on down the line.
I'm also coming to the conclusion that I've forgotten lots about the end of S4, and perhaps I should refresh my memory seeing as I still have the last 10 or so eps on my pc.

I thought this was a better episode than previous ones - loved the whole Marshall and the spider bit, and it was great to see the Evil Sloane back, although it was somewhat contrived.
Downsides - how many episodes have we had where someone tells Sydney she`s going to be a great ` Mom` ? :x
Also, there seemed an awful lot of out-of-focus close-ups - I noticed the occasional one in Season 4, but this ep. was riddled with them - it`s just a complete lack of care with the series. :snooty:
Mini-rant over. :)

When the new guy joined it was really bugging me why he seemed so familiar (even though I'd seen him on Charmed but I knew that wasn't the reason) and then I realised it was because he sounds exactly like Charlie Sheen! And then once I realised that I noticed the physical resemblance as well. Weird
I liked this episode better than the rest so far although I find it hard to believe that any mother as heavily pregnant as Syd would put their unborn child in any danger

Is that possibly because they've cropped the widescreen image and it's had a knock-on effect somehow?
Must admit I've given up watching now, it's too much like hard w**k :ermm:

I wondered about a possible US - to -UK TV videotape change thingy - something like a format change from the US system to our one ( ) - but Season 4 had an occasional blurry close-up, which was replicated on the Region 1 DVDs.. On one of the commentaries, a director mentions it and says something about them picking the best take in terms of acting and it didn`t matter that it wasn`t in focus, oslt. <_<
I think it`s a case of can`t-be-bothered-anymoreness, which seems to have affected the production.
If I`d seen this series in the US, I think I`d have given up watching, too, and just got the DVDs at the end to complete the collection. It`s been too plot-holey for me , too many cast changes, plus it`s just lapsed into a parody of itself .
There were so many ways to go with the pregnant storyline - forcing her to take time off and realise that she doesn`t have any friends and doesn`t trust anyone outside of w**k - discussing the ` pregnant woman in dangerous situations ` thing, talking about whether an agent should go back into the field and risk her life when she has a child at home - those all got tossed aside for the whole ` Yeah, she`s pregnant, so what - she can still do her job better than ever and risk her baby ` storyline.
I know it`s a TV show and not real ( ) but for me, bits of it have just descended into sillyness. <_<
