Well I paid £16.99 for it when it first came out so.....its not that much of a big deal....
OH NO I've wasted £7!!!!! But at least I saw it before I was spoiled which would have happened as a mate of mine told me what happened in it without even checking whether I'd seen it or not first.....

You had two
I got the r1 version but I wasn't impressed with the picture and sound quality on it, so I got the r2 copy when it was released - much better :)
star_fury - October 31, 2005 12:18 PM (GMT)
what kind of packaging does your Farscape peacekeeper Wars have?
willowroolz - October 31, 2005 01:44 PM (GMT)
The r1 version is in a standard dvd case, the r2 is the same as the other Farscape releases, a box with two dvd cases inside. The r2 package is much better, and it keeps the two-part mini-series format, whereas it's edited together on the r1 to make a 3 hour movie :)

I guess I was expecting a nice digipack and somehow feel a little disappointed with the two cases in a hard cardboard sleeve. To me it seems needlessly bulky when it could have been slim and attractive. I am glad that it has been separated on to two discs as it should improve the quality of the picture and make it seem like a mini-series rather than a long movie.
Steve, I'm surprised the audio on the region 1 was disappointing I would have expected it to be almost identical to the region 2.

It seemed muffled to me, and the bass seemed to boom rather than rumble :ermm:

The picture quality on this release is a bit disappointing. The anamorphic transfer preserves the original 1.78:1 aspect ratio of the original broadcast. Colors are rendered faithfully, from the reds and blacks of Peacekeeper décor to Moya's metal/organic interior to the icy blues of Scarran warships. However, the picture is marred by serious noise and pixelation. Backgrounds just can't sit still; this is especially true in any scene taking place against the blackness of space. Heavy distortion and noise appear around solid objects, and a lack of definition often makes starships blend into their surroundings in a noisy, grainy-looking mess. Brightly lit and interior/planetside scenes look a bit better, but these too are marred by softness, noise, and some occasionally heavy edge enhancement. The problems with the video transfer go beyond the usual nitpicking and represent concerns that even the average viewer sitting back on the couch to enjoy the show will find distracting.
Audio is presented in a Dolby Digital 5.1 mix that is surprisingly good for a made-for-TV production. There is some excellent use of surround channels to create an immersive, convincing sound environment. Particularly outstanding are the realistic sounds during the early scenes of Rygel swimming under water. My only complaint with the audio is the lack of bass punch in the normal (i.e. non-LFE) range during space battles and other action scenes; massive starships battling and being destroyed should have rattled my windows, but they did not.

ohhhh...
I actually suffer from that affliction of shaking windows which I find quite annoying and worrying in equal measure. I have subsequently had to turn down my subwoofer to minimise the effects in case the windows shake-out of the frames. :(

They don't fit in with mine. :( Mind you my collection is a mish-mash anyway :) , the first two seasons are the complete season region 2 box-sets, then season three and four are the complete Australian box-sets on region 4, followed by peacekeeper Wars on region 2.
Are your DVDs the individual episode releases?

Mine are, I may replace them with the Starburst editions eventually, though. I need the shelf space back

Me too, that why I was hoping for a slimmer and more attractive Peacekeeper Wars but at least I have it on DVD completing the collection... at last :)

mine are the original individual boxes, I bought them as they came out for way too much money but had to have them  I still like the picture the spines make so I won't be changing them, I am tempted to get some of the Starburst editions as well though :whistling:

My collection is a bit of a jumble, I have the box sets for the first couple of seasons and the individual boxes for the rest

I'll buy them whatever way is cheaper....and with the Starburst editions at £99.99....I think I got a bargain getting the individual boxsets for £8-£12 each.
Adding up to each season costing about £50 instead of £100.

The Starburst editions are 2-disc sets, priced between £12.99 and £13.99 each from PlayUSA, with 7 or 8 episodes per volume, three volumes per season, meaning you get each season for less than £42.
You're referring to the complete season box sets, which you can now get far cheaper than £99.99. Amazon now have the first two seasons at around £45 each, and Play.com have season 3 for £57. You can probably find them cheaper than that, too.

I too went for the cheapest way possible except that I refuse to buy lots of individual episode releases, I will only buy a complete season box-set. My region 2 box sets cost me just over £40 each for season one and two, my Australian region 4 season 3 and 4 cost me a whopping £22.42 each.
