Creature-effects supervisor John Rosengrant of Stan Winston Studios confirmed to SCI FI Wire that he has met with director Jonathan Mostow recently about the possibility of a new Terminator movie, but nothing is a go yet. "It's too early to figure out what a new Terminator would look like, or anything like that," said Rosengrant, who was the creature-effects supervisor on the upcoming film Doom, starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
In the first three Terminator films, Arnold Schwarzenegger, now governor of California, starred as a robot from the future. The original 1984 film was one of the first projects for special-effects designer Stan Winston, whose studio created the effects for such films as Aliens and Jurassic Park, as well as the two Terminator sequels.
Rosengrant said it is too early to figure out what a new robot from the future would look like if the franchise were to continue. "You usually don't do that kind of thing," Rosengrant said about designing a new Terminator. "You see the script and what spark comes from that, [talk] with the director and see what the vision is. It does no good to dream it up unless you write a treatment and try to get out there and sell it yourself."
Mostow, who directed Terminator 3: The Rise of the Machines, has said he was interested in a fourth Terminator film and commissioned a story written by Terminator 3 screenwriters John D. Brancato and Michael Ferris. Nick Stahl, who starred as John Connor in the third film, is signed for two more sequels.
"I know Jonathan Mostow said he had a script idea for it, and I did talk to him, and he did say that, but I don't know," Rosengrant said. "I keep hearing that there's going to be a Terminator 4. That's all it's been, just rumblings." |

Making a sequel to terminator 3 makes a whole lot more sense than making terminator 3 itself.
I'd quite like to see this one, but please, don't try to crowbar arnie into it. The whole point of the terminators being cyborgs is that they are difficult to spot. Doesn't really w**k if they all look the same.

I actually really liked T3. I thought it took the story where it wanted to go.
It was a natural progression. A new film would lead us right up to or even into the future scenes we see in the original film.
Thats what we want surely, for the whole thing to come full circle and the final scene in the entire franchise to be Arnie and Michael Biehn jumping into some time travel contraptions.
Actually, I think that sounds brilliant. Well done me. :whistling:

I agree with you and Bakhesh about this as I would certainly love to see a sequel, especially after that ending in Terminator 3! I really enjoyed T3 but Terminator 4 needs to be a much darker movie more suiting for a post-apocalyptic setting. Unfortunately thing I fear, like Bakhesh, is that they try to bring in Arnold Schwarzenegger for more than a cameo appearance. You only need to read the message board on Yahoo movies for Terminator 4 see that many of the imbeciles there think Mr Schwarzenegger is an necessity as a leading character. Mind you that was about a year ago since I last read any comments from there but hopefully the studios won't listen to those people's
let's hope T4 follows your post it's exactly how I think it should go.

The other problem with Arnie being in it, apart from what Nick said about all the terminators looking the same, is that he's so old now. Surely the terminators shouldn't age, either?
I enjoyed T3, I know a lot of people didn't. Tbh, I had more of a problem with T2 and all that boy-and-his-terminator rubbish ("I now know why you cry" :x ).

T2 was my favourite! I loved all that . T3 was a lot better than I expected it'd be though. I'd definitely go see T4, it could actually be pretty good. :)

Terminator 2 was my favourite as well although all I know what willroolz means about the whole I know now why you cry sequence was a bit much.

I'm with Steve on this one. I actually enjoyed T3, which benefitted greatly from being a shorter movie than the far too stretched out T2. IMO

Surely if they can make Robert Patrick's face morph into a pile of silver goo then they can make The Governer look a few years younger!
The whole "post-apocalyptic" idea that Star Fury pointed out, that's definately the way to go with the next film. Although I would prefer to see it built up in the next one then the whole destruction of civilisation in T5.
Stahl is signed up for 2 more remember.
And again, talking about the age thing, it shouldn't be too hard to make Stahl look older (they made him older for parts of the last one anyway) than Michael Biehn (They HAVE to bring back Michael Biehn!!)

Maybe they should just cgi him completely, he might act better then
I was thinking, after posting that, about when I went to see the first movie. I knew nothing about it beforehand, came out completely gobsmacked, and it's been one of my favourite movies ever since
