Title: Jms/enterprise?

Crichton Kicks - June 17, 2004 10:00 PM (GMT)
Just a few quotes/facts;

- JMS has been offered a EP role on a show he can't refuse.

- Brannon Braga's reportedly to step back from his EP role on Enterprise.

Quote from JMS a little while back when he was asked what he'd do with Star Trek;

"Surprisingly, I can't comment on that."

I'm sure Joe would have a field day with the Trek franchise

Bloody Hell!

I'd love it to be true, but sadly I think we're taking 2 and 2 and getting 5.

Berman won't let go of the Trek franchise until it's dead.

The b*stard

I'm still intruiged as to what this show is that he's got the EP role on.

No doubt all will be revealed at the appropriate time

That's one of Joe's failings though, the appropriate time is always months after he drops a hint

Wouldn't really want him any other way though, B5 probably wouldn't have been half as good if he hadn't been a bit of a tease :)

He has his saving graces, every now and then he makes a pretty decent little TV show

What did you make of Crusade Paul ??

I know B5 fans tend to be of very differing opinions on that one. Good/bad/indifferent ??

I've actually never seen it.

Sorry Paul, thought you'd seen it. Latest rumours on the B5 S5 DVDs is November :(

Crusade to follow after that. I didn't think the show was anywhere near as good as B5, but it did have a good cast and was just beginning to get promising when it was killed :(

I'd heard all the stuff about TNT's tampering etc and then it was pulled so I didn't bother with it.

I'll get the DVDs though certainly

Crichton Kicks - June 17, 2004 10:56 PM (GMT)
As protective as Joe was with the show, TNT's meddling is fairly evident in places. W*nkers. It wasn't bad, not great, but not bad.

Right, that's me.

See yaz all, time for bed :)

Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski claimed that he recently worked on the development of a new Star Trek series.

Cinescape has reprinted the news from a post at JMS News, in which Straczynski said that he and Dark Skies creator Bryce Zabel had written a treatment earlier this year for a new television series for Paramount. Straczynski stated that the new installment of the franchise would restore Star Trek "in a big way", adding, "I actually think it could be a hell of a show. Whether that ever goes anywhere with Paramount, who knows?"

Though there have been rumours that Paramount had entertained outside pitches for new Star Trek shows from everyone from William Shatner to a group of horror film producers, this is the first time another major television science fiction team has claimed to be working on a project independent of Rick Berman, who has been an executive producer of Star Trek for nearly two decades.

Berman's current production partner Brannon Braga has stated in interviews that he will not be the show-runner for Star Trek: Enterprise next season, with new writer Manny Coto likely to take over those duties, according to several actors on the show. Straczynski praised Coto and offered veiled criticism of Berman and Braga at the same time, saying, "Left to his own devices, I think he could be a big help over there without the other powers that be impeding the process."

The Great Link has previously reported Straczynski's claims that he was invited to become an executive producer on Enterprise, but declined the position.

Methinks Mr Rylander isn't going to be too happy about this.

What do we have to do for it to come true? After everything you and others have told me about him, maybe it would be good to give him a go!!

Crichton Kicks - June 21, 2004 08:55 PM (GMT)
I will guarantee you Ken, if Joe took over Trek, you'd get the best Star Trek series there's ever been.

I would imagine that at least in part it would also depend on how successful the proposed B5 movie does. If successful it could lead to a series of it's own.

And rest assured, if it does come to pass one Mr Rylander will never, ever hear the end of it

That's how the whole 18 month argument with Carl first erupted. He got on his high horse accusing B5 of having comicbook dialogue and being rubbish. Based largely on the strength of comments made in the Radio Times Guide to Science Fiction and the one episode of the show he had seen clips of

You can imagine the fun we had when he started using Harlan Ellison and his work on the TOS episode CITY ON THE EDGE OF FOREVER as being Science Ficiton at it's very best. After pointing out that Harlan was a powerful mover and shaker in B5 circles he suddenly became a hack.

That's the kind of mentality we were dealing with when arguing with Carl.

As I said, should this come to pass, Mr Rylander will never, ever be allowed to forget who was needed to be bought in to save Star Trek ;)

If I ever needed any concrete proof the guy is a tw*t (which I don't) then that is it!

ps I didn't realise it was Harlan Ellison that did the "Babylonian Productions Inc" voiceover at the ends of the eps!

LOL

Harlan did a few little touches like that. He did the voice of the new station computer in one of the early Season 4 episodes as well, the cranky one who bugs Garibaldi.

Carl's just a tw*t all ends up. Winning isn't enough now with him, my mission won't be fully accomplished until said w*nker realises he was wrong to ever oppose us in the first place

Another slice of classic Ellison writing is the Original Outer Limits episode DEMON WITH A GLASS HAND. Outstanding storytelling of the highest calibre.

Bloody Hellfire!

Can it be true?

Am Ii awake?

Am I sober?

The trouble is that the idea's just so perfect that those nerds at Paramount/UPN will never see it in a squillion years :stoopid:

Crichton Kicks - June 22, 2004 04:16 PM (GMT)
As much as I'd love it to be true Tony, I tend to agree with you. It's just too much of a perfect solution to Trek's current problems.
