| Sharon informs Adama that the Galatica has been infected with a computer virus that is tampering with the basic ship functions and is scanning them for weaknesses. All this is preparation for a major assault by the Cylon Raiders. So with the clock ticking, Adama must pull himself together and decide whether or not she can be trusted. Meanwhile the flight crew is hard at w**k on a new fighter named The Blackbird. |
ok, just got through watching episode 9 of season 2 last night, and just wanna get a few things of my chest and to see what everyone else thinks.
01- Is it just me, or did this episode actually (and i dont wanna say it) suck? :fear: :fear:
Everything that happened throughout this ep seemed really not needed, or if it was something that had to be shown, such as
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS
Helo and Tyrol getting all punchy about Sharon, The viper pilots being angry towards the 'cylon lover' and most of the episode.
END SPOILERS END SPOILERS END SPOILERS
it seemed glossed over and just put in so that we actually see it?
I really thought that seeing as the season was larger this year that we would get a higher number of amazing shows, but after last night, it does seem that they are using the extra episodes for 'filler' episodes??? But then it could just be me and every new episode untill the finale will rock to the huighest heavens???
02- Boomer, i still cant decide if this boomer is all 7 of 9 esque with her being a cylon but being a <_< good <_< cylon, or if this is still the cylons playing around with the Galactica. I cant decide what way i want this story to progress.
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS
But the other thing that got me about this was that, i thought that the human cylons were completely indistiguishable from real humans, and could only be found out when they were cremated???? But this boomer appears to have a USB port in her wrist, what was that about???
03- President Roslin. Weeks to live!!! Weeks to live???
if they kill of the president in the next few episodes, i will be rather disgruntled as she is my fave character, but i will have to applaud the show for killing a character and not weasling out of it... Though saying that, i have a feeling that it is going to go into remission, why i think that is because from the start we have been co-erced into believing that the president is to be the 'dying leader', however if infact she has weeks to live, and assuming that they wont kill her off, she will live through it and people will question her validity. I also think that Adama Sr could be this leader, as technically he is the 2nd most influencial leader in the fleet (or 1st, depending on your view i suppose)
but this could be all because i dont want her to die so early in the show???

**SPOILERS**
Can't see how you thought it sucked. It wasn't the strongest ep so far this series, but it still fell a very long way short of suckyness.
All though the plot wasn't moved on particularly, it was a nice character piece. The Tyrol/Halo thing was pretty good IMO. It showed just how screwed up everyone has been recently. Tyrol used to be one of the soundest people on galactica, but he's had so much to deal with, that you can't blame him for losing it.
The building of the blackbird was a nice way of giving people a little hope. I particularly liked the way that even Tigh helped out. I'm sure this ship is going to feature heavily in some future episodes. I was surprised that they finished it so quickly though. I would have thought they would drag it out over a few episodes.
I did had my doubts about the USB port, but I was pleased to see Sharon helping out. I was hoping that they might go a little easier on her afterwards, but no luck there. Its one of the great things about BSG that you can feel so much humanity towards an enemy, who could ultimately betray them all again. Sharon appears to be very human, and not at all cylon, but who knows whats going on inside her head. It could all be another trick to get people to trust her.
I have no idea how they are going to deal with Roslin. Part of me thinks she must die, as otherwise it would be unrealistic. Another part of me thinks they can't possibly kill such a great character. Of course, a few weeks can last a long time in the BSG universe. Mary McDonnell has been absolutely superb throughout BSG. The bit where they unveiled the name Laura on the blackbird really brought a lump to my throat.
Flight of the Phoenix
Another great episode. This was the Chief's episode and what a hopeful episode it is. Just as everybody is giving up hope Tyrol finds a way to give himself and everybody around him that hope. I completely fell in love with the idea of the chief attempting to build a brand new Viper from scrounged parts from the fleet. I also liked the naming of the new class of Viper being the blackbird and the idea it's a Stealth Ship although this could come back to haunt them as inevitably the Cylon's are going to have to develop their own Stealth technology. Also just like Bakhesh I found the naming of the blackbird "Laura" very moving as well.
This episode is a prime example of how Battlestar Galactica completely differentiates itself from Star Trek, not that the rest don't in their own fantastic way, but they are no replicator's to just "knock up another ship" with easily replicated parts. It's all hard graft and scrounging the parts that are available. I also loved how Helo and Tyrol came to blows which absolutely would never happen in Star Trek unless they were under the influence of some alien device or influence.
I loved how as time went by all the major cast members eventually aided in helping the ship get built right down to petty officer Dualla (whose character has certainly developed a lot during this first half of second season... I also loved the chemistry between her and Apollo. Even though she's been gradually creeping onto my radar over this first half of season  ). I really liked how Tigh , who had been dead against the project, realised the need of the chief to complete the Viper. Told him where to get a couple of engines that he so desperately needed. I was also surprised how quickly the ship was assembled like bakhesh I expected this to be a sub-plot for several weeks.
I was glad to see that the Cylon's virus was not forgotten and had effects down the line. I was also glad to see that Sharon was given a chance to prove her worth and earned a modicum of trust with Adama and everybody around him. I knew she would help the fleet escape the Cylon's. Although I never imagined in such a massive way. Hopefully she will earn the trust of everybody around her, she has mine even though I know there's a possibility of her betrayal.
Craig, I also thought that President Roslin only having weeks and on the outside a-month to live to be short. However as Bakhesh said we often have several episodes which are set with only days between them. A month could well keep her alive until the end of the third season or perhaps a little longer.
I thought it was riveting from start to finish, actually felt my heart thumping when the Cylons turned up at the end, and it dealt with some issues that were still hanging, like the chief and Helo, which I liked
