Title: Movie Or Tv?
Description: what would you prefer?

More info hereAfter Serenity is out, and presuming its going to be fairly successful (and the early reviews suggest it will be), would you rather see a sequel to the movie, or see a new series of Firefly?
I think I'd prefer to see it return to TV. I know TV doesn't get the prestige of movies yet, but I think it gives them much more chance to explore the characters, and build up some nice meaty storylines. The special effects budget might be a bit more limited, but TV effects are more than adequate these days.
What does everyone think?

I'm with you Nick, I'd rather it returned as a series. I'd prefer to see 22 new stories each year, with that much more development and focus for each character, than wait two or three years for one or two more stories.
Having said that, I'm more than happy with Firefly being kept alive in movie form for now :)

definitly the return of the TV show

I'd rather have another series or five but I think the chances are pretty slim :tear:
As there is a deal to make another 2 films if Serenity does well then I'd have to take that and be happy.
You never know maybe the Sci Fi channel would be interested in making another series. I'm thinking Joss is going to stick with Movies for a while though.

I would definitely prefer Firefly to return as a TV series with 22 episodes a year.
Although that is very unlikely to happen unless Serenity performs poorly at the box office and then I think I read somewhere that the TV series couldn't be made for another two or three years after the movie premieres.
movies will have to surfice.

It have to be the return of the tv series for me because no matter how good the film will be there will never be enough time to deal with everything sadly I don't think it will happen but if all goes will we should get a sequel and that better then nothing. Heres an idea what about a mini-series it w**k for Farscape so I'm told, Alex did it w**k for Farscape

Kind of Joe, after four seasons of Farscape that had been building up a particular story arc all the way through, to be cancelled without finding out what happened was particularly cruel. (A bit like reading a novel and finding the last chapter missing).
We fans definitely got satisfaction from the PK Wars mini series although to me it could have gone on for many seasons more. It was made because of the uproar from fans and their relentless campaigning and proved that it is worth getting your voice heard.
As Wayne Pygram said to me (Scorpius in Farscape) without the fans it wouldn't have been possible which is pretty much the same as Serenity the Movie. If we keep buying Firefly merchandise and DVDs it sends a message that there is still an audience and if it remains consistently large enough who knows
:D

Hi Alex I know about the Campaign by Farscape fans it was used as case study at uni by a lecturer used it when I was learning fan power & online community did it w**k as well as an episodes?

:) they just concentrated on the one storyline so it could be viewed as one very long film really. Although the budget wasn't that big they tweaked every last bit out so it looks pretty good, better than usual tv effects so it has a slightly more epic feel about it than the show had.
Personally when I first heard them discussing a mini series I :snooty: was not happy, but when it became clear that it was definitely over and another series was not going to happen then I changed my mind and was grateful that we would get some more.
They packed an awful lot in a few hours so in my mind they did very well. In one way it did w**k as we all got the resolution we needed but on the other hand I still would have preferred another full length series.
There had already been 4 full seasons of Farscape though whereas Firefly only just got started so I'd say that a mini series wouldn't do for it. That is now though, I may change my mind in future

Loved the movie, but there's no substitute for weekly adventures, albeit on a smaller scale of spectacle.
I wouldn't say the chances of a series are following the movie are zero. Small granted, but should the $ take be slightly less than was hoped for and Universal decide not to pursue sequals, they could on the other hand push it back into series on Sci-Fi.

while more movies would be great I want them back on thew TV you can do more with a series than a Film and can always go onto another film for the series!

The problem for Firefly as I see it is that if it isn't successful enough for a sequel of Serenity and it does come back as a TV series a few years down the line. Joss Whedon probably won't have the same input into the series since he has moved on to being a big-screen movie director/writer. However, while I haven't seen Serenity yet I expect DVD rentals and DVD sales to bring Serenity and Firefly to a larger audience, then a sequel or two to be made a few years down the line.
