I'm sort of :yahoo: and <_< at the same time. I don't like it when they release half season sets :ermm:

but it (kind of) makes sense in this case what with them always intending for the season to be split into two groups of 10 episodes :ponder:

That's convenient for them, at $50 a pop

I'm going to wait for the complete season box-set which will no doubt be released later. :)

| We expect the bonus material to include all of Ron Moore's podcast commentaries, deleted scenes, behind-the-scenes featurettes and an extended version of the mid-season finale, Pegasus (that according to Ron himself). FYI, the latter half of the second season debuts on SciFi in January. |

Same here.
I can see why they've split the second season, afterall the latter half hasn't aired yet and they want to cash in on the show's popularity sooner rather than later. That being said, releasing things in anything other than full season sets is a step backwards. What next ? A move back to individual episode releases ?
It wouldn't be so bad, but they still charge nearly the price of a full boxset just for one half.
I didn't mind so much with the first season, because at the end of the day that's all the episodes there was at that point, 13. Now they've consciously decided to rush out a set.
I'll be leaving this one for now. If they bring out a full season set then I'll get it. Otherwise I'll stick with the d/ls. The podcasts can be obtained through Sci-Fi anyway.

I agree it's just another way of fleecing the fans.
I also thought the first season on region 2 , which I believe you bought Crichton kicks , was well over priced especially considering its lack of extras and no mini-series. I wouldn't go into buying half seasons or even individual episode releases because like you said it's a step backwards. Obviously there are people who just have to have it now and releasing just before Christmas will certainly boost sales.
I'm quite looking forward to the second complete season box-set on region 1 if the first season is anything to go by. Nine audio commentaries on a full season of over 20 episodes is fantastic but over 13 episodes is phenomenal. I haven't checked out the rest of the extras since I only just finished disc three but I felt that the region 1 box-set was value-for-money.
Actually I was reading on Digital bits that the extras could have been even more comprehensive with other featurettes that can be downloaded from Sci-fi's website.

The rest of the extras are pretty good but, as you say, there's stuff missing that should have been on there. There's over an hour of behind the scenes material, plus a 20 minute Lowdown (about the series itself as opposed from the one about the mini - that one's gone missing), plus the deleted scenes.

I thought that on both regions the Deleted scenes relevant to each episode should have been on the appropriate disc with the corresponding episodes rather than all together.

Season 2.0 box art;

The podcasts will be included, alongside deleted scenes.

Damn , I wish I hadn't seen that art w**k because it obviously means that commander Adama doesn't die since he's on the cover.

Says who ? :p

You know what these things are like - they'll put anything on the box whether they're relevant or not - eg Spike and Dru on the Buffy S3 box sets.

Well apparently I couldn't wait and picked up Battlestar Galactica 2.0 like I said I wouldn't. :whistling: Anyway I was wondering if anybody has heard when Battlestar Galactica 2.5 is going to be released? I suppose it's going to be quite a long wait! :(
goth willow fan - February 17, 2006 05:45 PM (GMT)
Well the series will be on for another 5 weeks or so - It depends how soon after the last ep the DVDs come out. It wasn't that long for the first half of the season.
star_fury - February 20, 2006 05:53 PM (GMT)
then I suppose I'm looking at a two-to-three month wait, minimum. :(
