Title: Was That It?

Ms Carpenter's (Very brief and frankly soggy) cameo on Charmed last night - yay for her, getting the figure back post baby...but :headbang: the writers for wasting a talented actress...

prophecy girl - October 2, 2005 07:17 PM (GMT)
i think there is two more episodes with her (also short appearance iirc)

Mehitabel - October 2, 2005 07:18 PM (GMT)
 Thanks for that- it can only get better (I suppose).

prophecy girl - October 2, 2005 07:25 PM (GMT)
i goggle and yep two more episodes

laughitupfuzzball - October 2, 2005 07:27 PM (GMT)
Agreed, a total waste, I'm afraid I only watched one ep with her as I couldn't put myself through anymore.

At least it kept her profile visible though :)

Mehitabel - October 2, 2005 07:30 PM (GMT)
As I wasn't even expecting it, her appearance promised a treat (which it wasn't her faoult she lacked the script to deliver)- Honestly, that show has got so LAZY of late....

Childhood Trauma - October 2, 2005 07:31 PM (GMT)
Yeah there are two more episodes starring Ms. Carpenter as you refer to her.

They are :

7.5 - Styx Feet Under

And

7.10 - Witchness Protection

Ms. Carpenter stars most in Witchness Protection, wherein she only has about 5 minutes in both Cheaper By The Coven and Styx Feet Under.

Thanks - good facts - I'll probably be watching (and grumbling)...

prophecy girl - October 2, 2005 07:39 PM (GMT)
ok uh it was episode 2 last night .... wasn't it? so i can avoid watching the two next episodes ..... <_<

laughitupfuzzball - October 2, 2005 07:42 PM (GMT)

I managed to catch it by the sheer fluke that Millionaire was not on for some reason. Glad to see that Charisma was long and dark exactly as she should be. Her staggering figure is still something special. sk

I've never watched Charmed is it any good? I've never got around to seeing it. It does seemed strange that they would go to the trouble of getting the talented Charisma just for a cameo expensive too I imagine she commands a big fee.

Hey Matthew I like you Corpse Bride pics too but I like your Eliza one better

My opinion for what it's worth is that if you don't expect anything in the same league as Buffy, and have frivolous time on your hands early Saturday evening, it's OK (but going downhill rpidly from when it still had novelty value). If you can tolerate silly US, goth-lite, plot-lite fantasy soap (like me, in the right mood), it might be worth finding some very early ones to try out.

Let us know what you think if you track it down. :ponder:

Thanks for the info I think I'll give it a try, in a way Buffy has ruined tv for me because every time a new show comes out I keep hoping for something as good as Buffy but it never happens. Well there's Firefly and Angel but thats thanks to Joss as well.

One thing about Charmed is the episode titles are often rather clever......the ones mentioned earlier being prime examples (Cheaper by the coven, Styx feet under, Witchness protection) ..... unfortunately they are the best thing about the show .... I've watched a few random eps but just cant get into it at all....... :ermm:

charmed is about family value with a bit of magic ... hence the family association mostly very happy about it

The problem with Charmed is that it is totally camp with no hard edges whatsoever. I despair that this is what the American consumer wants as it seems to be picked up year after year with Bjorn Borg like regularity. The scripts all have that air of bland monotony that somehow bewitches the sensibility which I am not at all sure is a good thing.

At least Buffy had the ability to change gears and deliver very different feels and emotions. From The Body to Intervention shows remarkable adaptivity. The only thing I wish is that the team had allowed the seasons to evolve rather than having near revolutions now and again. sk

Totally agree about the hardedgedlessness, but suspect we have different levels of camp-awareness. e.g. Rocky Horrow, Julian and Sandy, Lorne... would do it for me, 3 middle class whingey witches, who appear to live in the only wasp suburb of a vibrant multi-ethnic and weird city still seem too stuck in soap land too often for my tastes. Way too sanitised, once the novelty bagan to waer off.

And helped themself to the ideas (and wardrobe) of practically every fantasy/ sword and sourcery/ horror film of the last 30 years, Greek myths and TV sitcoms into the bargain.... that's it- the original idea- : nick stuff other writers have already done better. But still - better than snooker.....
