Title: What Was The Last Computer Game You Played?

Dan Brown - September 28, 2005 06:36 PM (GMT)
There is a thread like this for other topics so I thought it might be good to hear what games people are playing at this moment in time, and maybe what people think of them if they have completed them and would they recommend them?

I'll start the last game I completed was Secret Weapons Over Normandy on the XBOX. It has to be the best flying action game I have played. It has a huge amount of aircraft to choose from and varied missions. The graphics are good but not excellent, and the story is good but a bit far-fetched.

The game I'm currently playing is Mercenaries on the XBOX. And I'm enjoying this as well its like Grand Theft Auto..there is freedom to wander around and take mercenary jobs from any faction, and it works like Grand Theft Auto 2 on PS1 whereby you have bars for the amount of respect you have from the different factions and if its low they won't give you missions. It also works on the card system whereby you have to capture say the King of Clubs and you have to capture all 52 High Value Targets in this game. This means that it will have a long life, but it has become a bit repetitive. But its good and I'm still playing.

I've been playing 'Rise of Nations'. It's a nice leap forward from 'Age of Empires', but the more troops battling, the more likely the computer is to crash. Sending about fifty troops with planes and bombers really does test the memory!

Today I have mostly been playing NFL 2K5 on the Xbox

Also got a few PSP games on the go, Mercury, Ridge Racer, Everybody's Golf and Lumines are the favourites :)

On the Cube it's Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, and Resi 4 on replay, the two best console games I've played bar none

Yeah Resident Evil 4 is my favouritest game ever, Highly recommended.

I've bought Meteroid Prime 2: Echoes haven't got around to playing it yet and now I'm back at Uni...time is short.

At the moment I'm playing The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction on the Cube, which is a very good game if you're simply after mindless destruction :)

And due to my computer being a POS, I can't really play games on it, but I do have Worms Armageddon which I'm quite fond of, and have just dug out my old copy of The Grim Fandango which I intend to start on tomorrow ^_^

*I've also installed Vice City on Loobi's computer at Uni :shifty:

goth willow fan - September 28, 2005 07:59 PM (GMT)
Um... World of Warcraft

jamiearmour - September 28, 2005 08:12 PM (GMT)
Star Trek: Armada 2.

I'm still having trouble with the final single player level, so I keep trying, between bouts of G.I.D (Game Induced Depression) which are usually caused by trying to complete the final level <_<

On the cube, it's the equally frustrating, at points, Metroid Prime 2. Love the game/hate the game moments in this one too

I've been thinking about getting a RTS Star Trek game but can't seem to find them in the shops anywhere.... :ponder:

jamiearmour - September 28, 2005 08:28 PM (GMT)
The original "Armada" can be picked up on ebay for pennies. Armada 2 though, by virtue of not being re-released by a budget label can go for as high as £50 on there :o

Thank God for charity shops, where I got mine for 99p

 The Metroid games just wouldn't be the same without those moments of frustration. I'm remembering how many goes it took me to beat the final boss in the first game. The battle itself lasts for well over half an hour, and when you have to redo it five or six times... :damnyou:

Still, the feeling of satisfaction when you do beat it is immense, I've found that with all the Metroid games

The GBA ones, Metroid Fusion and Metroid Zero Mission are superb as well

Phillip Culley - September 28, 2005 09:26 PM (GMT)
I'm currently halfway through Vice City (just unlocked the second island)...

Crichton Kicks - September 28, 2005 10:39 PM (GMT)
Cricket Captain 2005.

Played as England, got thrashed by Bagladesh. B*llocks.

Played as Australia and haven't lost a test or ODI series in 3 years

Re Rise of Nations, great game, there's nothing more therapeutic than dropping a nuke on Paris. Sorry Pg

jamiearmour - September 28, 2005 11:14 PM (GMT)
Armada 2 again. f***ing piece of shit, Goddamn piece of :shit: Why won't species 8472 just die or go home without my intervention :snooty: :guns: :guns: :guns:

And a deep cleansing breath.

I haven't had time to play any games for weeks, but the last one I did play was XIII on the PS2. I'm about halfway through it. Other than that, the games I've got on the go are Broken Sword:sleeping dragon (And I'm stuck on it <_<), further percentage completion of San Andreas (have completed the story mode) and Final Fantasy X.

laughitupfuzzball - September 29, 2005 08:28 AM (GMT)
:) Just started Fantastic Four on PS2, on the PC I'm playing Stronghold 2 :)

prophecy girl - September 29, 2005 08:57 AM (GMT)
Sims city on PC (still funny)

rob - September 29, 2005 09:55 AM (GMT)
Forgot to mention ROMS - I'm currently playing Alex The Kid In Miracle World and Wonder Boy ^_^

Laura - September 29, 2005 11:37 AM (GMT)
GTA: San Andreas on the PC. I suck at this, I keep getting beaten up by police and other gangs .

I'm still trying to spray the first 4 tags . I just need to sit down and figure it out, I managed to spray the fourth tag but then a gang member appeared and killed me <_<

melian - September 30, 2005 01:12 PM (GMT)
I'm re-addicted to XMen Legends on the Xbox atm

ant - September 30, 2005 02:41 PM (GMT)

 It's great isn't it? Who needs Tiger Woods :snooty:

Having a hard time with Hulk atm, I'm at a stage where you're up against literally everything! The level is broken down into three main battles/objectives, after each is a check point, but you can't save it at check points, so it's all got to be done in one sitting.

I can get to the final stage of the level but the battle just won't end, there's just too many huge robots, as soon as you take one down, two more appear - just made it across the bridge where you're greeted by two *huge armored hulk busters, managed to beat each of them down to a fraction of their health but then one of them grabbed me beat the sh*t out of me :frusty: :tear:

All good fun though :shifty:

willowroolz - October 2, 2005 10:09 AM (GMT)
Been playing NHL 06 all morning, it's a lot harder than usual. Not sure if it's as good as NHL 2K5, though, might have to have another go at that later on and make a comparison :ponder:

Dan Brown - October 15, 2005 12:40 PM (GMT)
I've just started Command And Conquer Red Alert 2 and it is brill, I'm a real fan of RTS games and even though its pretty old and the graphics aren't excellent the gameplay makes up for it.....

I've already complete Generals and the Expansion pack zero hour but its nice to go back and play some of the predecessors.

Anyone know of any other C&C games on the horizon?

ant - October 15, 2005 01:18 PM (GMT)
Lego Star Wars

willowroolz - October 16, 2005 09:49 AM (GMT)
At the moment I have NHL 06 on the go

Also, I'm torn between Madden 06 and ESPN NFL 2K5. I think parts of the Madden game are really excellent (I kinda like the new passing system), plus it's the only game with an official NFL license now (bloody EA <_< ), and I love the Superstar mode (create yourself as a player, get drafted and go through your career) but the endless practise sessions are tedious. NFL 2K5 just feels like the real game, big plays are few and far between (unlike Madden), and the ESPN presentation is brilliant, just like on tv. :ponder:

goth willow fan - October 16, 2005 12:40 PM (GMT)
I find the new Madden passing game unnecessarily fiddly, I still prefer ESPN.

Picked up the PC version of Fable - pretty good.

And I'm still playing lots of WOW.

So do I, now my Dolphins have clinched a playoff berth

An 11-2-1 record, it's so realistic :shifty:

rob - October 17, 2005 06:09 PM (GMT)
The original Ghost Recon on the PC, can't beat it :)

rob - October 23, 2005 11:10 AM (GMT)
Soldier Of Fortune II - just about runs on my POS machine, on the lowest possible settings with some stuttering - bonus.

Dan Brown - October 23, 2005 08:17 PM (GMT)
Still on Mercenaries and God it is now BORING....its too repetitive.....anyone else played this game?

melian - October 24, 2005 10:05 AM (GMT)
XMen Legends II on the xbox

willowroolz - October 24, 2005 10:14 AM (GMT)
Bumped ESPN NHL 2K5 up to All Star level cos I was winning too easily. Managed to give away 2 and 3 goal leads in the last couple of games. I think my defense needs some w**k :ponder:

On the plus side, the Dolphins are now in the AFC Championship game :ph43r:

willowroolz - November 5, 2005 11:30 AM (GMT)
Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories

It's just like the other games which, considering it's on a handheld, is amazing. The mission structure makes it good for playing in short bursts, there's the usual choice of radio stations, there might be a bit less traffic on the roads. So far, very impressed

Evil b*stards !!

Fancy bringing out Civ IV and Age of Empires 3 at the same time
