| Musicians Robert Plant and Roger Daltrey have joined a line-up of stars to record a tribute single to the late DJ John Peel. It is a cover version of Ever Fallen In Love by the Buzzcocks, one of Peel's favourite records. Pete Shelley of the Buzzcocks, who wrote the song, will appear on the single alongside Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, New Order's Peter Hook and Jeff Beck. Newer acts include The Futureheads, El Presidente and The Datsuns. Many of the bands owe their careers to Peel. Gordon Moakes of Mercury Prize nominees Bloc Party has created the cover art and proceeds from the record will go to Amnesty International, a political campaign group which Peel supported. The tribute single is the brainchild of Peel's son, Tom Ravenscroft. The record is released on November 21 to coincide with Peel's induction into the UK Music Hall of Fame. |
