I would more or less agree with that, except of course, Dr Who would be more in the number 1 position :whistling:
prophecy girl - September 22, 2005 09:49 AM (GMT)
i would have put babylon 5 number 1
willowroolz - September 22, 2005 10:01 AM (GMT)
The list is obviously an absolute nonsense. Either that or Farscape has never been shown in Boston :snooty:
Kev Trek at number 22 :lmao:
prophecy girl - September 22, 2005 10:13 AM (GMT)
and buffy is only 27 :snooty:
Bakhesh - September 22, 2005 11:40 AM (GMT)
Did I miss something, or was Deep Space Nine not even there?
Bill The Bloodless - September 22, 2005 11:48 AM (GMT)
I would look but can't be arsed to click through 50 pages. Captain Scarlet should definitely be in the top 10 though. ;)

I agree Captain Scarlet should have been in there, and Fireball XL5 too. There was Thunderbirds and Space:1999 though to keep Gerry Anderson fans happy. I wasn't chuffed with all the clicking either but if the people of Boston have never heard of things like DS9 or Farscape maybe they've never heard of the concept of a list either.

Several reasons why I'm never going to Boston...
Kev Trek and Xena are aparently better than Buffy there...
They actually liked the Logan's Run series (its at 15) which was a disapointment in relation to the fantastic film. Basically a TV show with thesame plot as the film but it was rubbish.
Mystery Science Theater 3000 :fear:
They think the monsters in Doctor Who are cheesy, let me think what original ideas have ever come up in an American show before...Star Trek even ripped of the Cybermen when they made The Borg.
Apart from that its nice to see Sliders in at number 10...a highly underated show.
No Harsh Realm though.....

Nah, I never like Sliders one series was enough and by then it just seemed to be the same thing every week.
And anyway if it's a sci-fi list should Buffy or Xena really be on it? Shouldn't they classed as fantasy shows or is a case of just lumping everything together again?

The first season of Sliders was pretty good, everything else was poor.
Even with a very short run Firefly should be ahead of Sliders IMO. And B5's not #1 therefore invalidating the findings yet further

How come when you put down Andro meda, Kev Trek comes up. What is Kev Trek. Is this a joke?

Well the Kev part is because the lead actor, and producer, was Kevin Sorbo.
I assume the Trek part is because it's full title is Gene Roddenberry's Kev Trek, and he created the Trek franchise.
prophecy girl - September 23, 2005 10:33 AM (GMT)
1/babylon 5
2/buffy
3/firefly
4/the x-files

|
The official reason;
Kevin Sorbo gradually took almost total creative control over the show, and ultimately is convinced that he's helped create a magnus opus akin to that of Star Trek at it's height.
In Kev's eyes, his 'vision' has superceded Roddenberry's original idea
Following from that, it's only fair that we pay @ndromeda, and more importantly Herc....sorry, Kev, the respect it deserves by rechristening it Kev Trek

2/buffy
3/firefly
4/the x-files
5/star trek |
1. B5
2. DS9
3. Angel
4. The X-Files
5. SG1
I've refrained from mentioning any new(ish) or shortlived series.
TV Crazy - September 23, 2005 06:27 PM (GMT)
1/2Buffy and Angel (can never decide which i prefer)
3. SG1
4. SGA
5. Voyager
This is because they are mainly the only sci-fi shows i've seen or watch. Did watch the first 2 seasons of Kev Trek, but got a bit bored/ lost track of it after that. I am planning to watch BSG and Firefly soon
Ems :)
star_fury - October 3, 2005 01:21 PM (GMT)
1. Babylon 5
2. Buffy (not exactly sci-fi but if it's in the list its an easy number two )
3. Farscape
4. The X Files
5. Dark Angel
like Crichton kicks I haven't mentioned shows which were cancelled with less than two seasons made. My favourite series in no particular order of new and cancel shows include...
Battlestar Gallactica (not the original) - has the potential to challenge Babylon 5 for the crown of best sci-fi ever !
Space above and beyond - cruelly cancelled and should have been one of the greats
Firefly - as above
Dark skies
I think DS 9 is worth a mention as it's the best Star Trek series by a long chalk IMO! And no offence to any Star Trek fans of the original series but to place that as Number One is completely laughable. *goes to hide*
star_fury - October 3, 2005 01:41 PM (GMT)
continued... Buffy at 27 :o , Stargate Atlantas higher than Buffy! :o Kev Trek higher than Stargate Atlantas! :lmao: Voyager at 14 & Xena 12!, :lmao:
no Farscape, no Space Above and Beyond, no DS 9 .... the list is a complete mockery.
