Title: Hex

TV Crazy - September 18, 2005 04:16 PM (GMT)
Just to let any Hex fans know that S2 starts tonight at 9pm on Sky One. It clashes with the new series of Waking The Dead, so i'll have to tape it.

Ems :)

Hmm, it's really high time I actually got around to watching season 1 methinks. I think I watched the first episode and then stored the rest. I'll have to have a dig around.

How many episodes are there this time around ? More than last year's six presumably.

The last watcher - September 19, 2005 01:19 PM (GMT)
Although I enjoyed the first series, it did seem a little slow.......They seem to have upped the pace a bit for the new series....hope its a sign of better things to come.

melian - September 19, 2005 02:55 PM (GMT)
I think there are 13 episodes this season.

This one certainly did seem alot faster paced than last season, but it still did that thing where I felt like I had blinked and missed huge chunks of it
It seems a little disjointed in parts.

Outta Sight - September 20, 2005 08:18 AM (GMT)
I really enjoyed the first episode probably more so than the last series  Cassie isn't quite as wet as she was before and Thelma is still lots of fun :lmao:

:tear: @ poor Felix, though. I could see it coming but it was still sad :tear:

It was a bit obvious that Cassie's friendship with Felix was going to end in CATastrophe.......(sorry couldnt resist that :ph43r: ).......I was wondering if he was going to become a ghost, like Thelma, and become a regular character?

Special effects on the Nephralim (sp  ) were quite good for a TV show

Well with just Cassie and Thelma its a bit of a Female 'Randall and Hopkirk'....not sure if the addition of Felix the ghost would be a good thing though.....he could become very annoying...... :ponder:

melian - September 20, 2005 01:52 PM (GMT)
He got a bit whiney at the end. I was almost glad he corked it :ph43r:

Yes, but might be funny to see both Dead Thelma and Dead Felix vying for Cassie's affections :lmao:

Saw the box set (3 DVD) of S1 in Smiths today for £20........probably cheaper elsewhere but It did look shiny :)

SkiBore - September 26, 2005 07:20 PM (GMT)
I almost cheered when Cassie got the knife in the back.

Hex reminds me of Plan 9 from Outer Space – its so bad, it’s good . . .

Ok............The cast seem to be being killed off quicker than 'all you can eat week at Sunnydale high'........

So is Cassie gone for good then??????

That's what I was going to ask :lmao: Is that why they've brought Ellie in to keep the 2 girl quota

I was debating whether to watch season 1. How good is it? Can it be compared to a British Buffy as the Critics have claimed?

I don't know why they compared it to Buffy, it's nothing like it imo  Maybe the second season is slightly more Buffylike with Ellie the demon hunter but the first season is something entirely different. But if you like the supernatural/angels and demons type show combined with a dollop of humour, you'll like this

Theyve stolen a few Buffyesque ideas.....the strong female lead, the lesbian sidekick, the dark brooding angel badguy, the setting in a highschool...etc.

And as with Buffy they've chosen somewhat unknown actors for the lead roles, but I think thats where the similarities end....whereas Buffy eps were in most parts self contained stories that moved the story arc onwards, Hex just seemed to be parts of an arc that couldnt really be watched 'stand alone'........if you get what I mean.....

Still.......the missus and I find it entertaining.....if you go into it judging it on its own merits....not as a poor copy of Buffy....its worth the effort........imho, of course.

It's ok. I'm quite enjoying it to be honest. Nothing too taxing... IMO it's a million miles away from Buffy in terms of quality, but I rather like it, and it keeps me off the streets for an hour a week!

Entirely Pointy - October 19, 2005 01:28 PM (GMT)
im liking it too plus azaziel is very fit

i hope they bring cassie back though, maybe ella will die trying to kill the child and they will bring cassie back as the next evil-baby fighter :ponder:

The last watcher - October 19, 2005 01:46 PM (GMT)
Dont know for certain, but it strikes me that Cassie leaving the series was not exactly planned.....The first series was all about the McBain family and its connection to Azaziel.....then series two starts and its suddenly about this demonhunter that has been persuing him through the ages.

Was wondering if the knife in the back was some kind of payback for leaving the show. :ponder:

Was anyone else suprised at how tiny the girl who plays Ella is...you dont really notice it when she's got the black Vampish gear on....but when she was wearing the tracksuit...........Ella the bite-size demon slayer...

Entirely Pointy - October 20, 2005 08:58 AM (GMT)
yes she did look very teeny weeny when she firsat appeared on the show too when she was in the canteen thing with the headmaster

did cassie (the actress, forgot her name) leave the show on purpose then?

That was the impression I got from an article in one of the SCI/FI mags previewing S2......had a look for it last night but couldnt find it again, as I cant remember the exact wording....

Darris - October 24, 2005 09:17 PM (GMT)
I didn't realise Christina Cole had left the show until i read it on some website. I read an interview which mentions Chistina already had said no to a second season before the first season was cut for the tv. http://www.jemimathelma.com/interviews.htm

Season 2 has so far kept me more intersted than the first season though, can't wait to see what happens to Ella.

I'm quite enjoying this second season of Hex although I am not quite sure whether Ella is leading lady material. I must admit complete and utter shock that Cassie was killed off but the episodes since her death have been consistently entertaining. Thelma's character being my favourite who's always good for a laugh!

I haven't seen this week's episode yet but last week's was hilarious, I was splitting my sides laughing at the site of Leon in that nurse's uniform and then getting head-butted. :lmao: Leon's character seems very much like Xander or at least that seem like the direction they are trying to take him.

I don't think Hex is ever going to reach Buffy heights of quality but with this 13 episode run and with any luck a third season (hopefully with even more episodes), this could be quite an entertaining series for a few years.I could really grow fond of Hex.

Ok...so how did Malachi end up with an Australian accent???? :ponder:

Did think it was a bit odd that the school accepted ella back without any fuss.....technically she was still an escaped certified mental patient.... :ponder:

I noticed he went all Australian as well :lmao: I'm finding it difficult to like Ella  I love the others, Thelma, Leon, even bitchy Roxanne but something about Ella annoys me

The last watcher - November 8, 2005 04:48 PM (GMT)
She really isnt Female lead material......I think Ms Rooper is going to be the most popular character by a mile..... :)

Darris - November 11, 2005 04:49 PM (GMT)
Is Azazeal leaving also, what with being told to leave Malachi alone?

I reckon the powers that be are wanting him to get jiggy with that Ella chick, then Ella will get pregnant... :p

I felt quite sorry for Roxanne in a way, even though she thought she was manipulating Jez he was in fact using her. I do agree Ella isn't that strong a character to take the lead, she seems a tad unstable. I didn't like Thelma that much in season 1, she has grown on me now.

Outta Sight - November 15, 2005 10:44 AM (GMT)
I'm afraid Ella is just getting more and more annoying for me  And I don't think the girl is a very good actress either. She seems to be overegging the pudding slightly  Rather shocking when Malachi made the girl get run over but yay that Thelma has a girlfriend now

Darris - November 17, 2005 07:43 PM (GMT)
It was shocking. Do you think he did it as Thelma is the closest he will get to his mother? Or just to generally defy anyone that tells him to not do something?

What was the Arch Angel Raphael doing driving a taxi! haha It's like some cheesy film that is aired at Christmas featuring Bill Murray. For a second when he sent Leon to Berlin and we saw some legs walking away from the camera i thought Leon had dressed up as a woman again!

What was going on there with that Meph dude (not even going to attempt to spell his name!) And was the reason that the fairy woman didn't recognise anyone was because she was from the past?

The last watcher - November 28, 2005 04:17 PM (GMT)
Ok, just watched last weeks and this weeks together........

Has anyone got the slightest idea whats going on????????

Archangel Raphael is turning into a bit of a sh*t and seems to be helping the bad guys.....

Mephistopheles was w**king for the bad guys but helped get Ella back and save Leon.....

In one scene I'm sure Thelma had a 'M' tattoo on her arm....who does that make her belong to then?????

Thelma scuppered Leons plan and nearly got him killed, as she has done to Ella several times now......they would probably be better off getting rid of HER first....

:ponder:

Outta Sight - November 28, 2005 04:20 PM (GMT)
Oh, I've given up trying to follow it :lmao: I just let it wash over me in great waves of silliness

The last watcher - November 28, 2005 05:04 PM (GMT)
Think that might be the best way....

Its becoming like an improvisation sketch......where the cast make up the story as they go along.......

Darris - December 2, 2005 07:30 PM (GMT)
Is Raphael w**king for the dark side? I can't decide. Ella doesn't seem to like him anyway. Episode 10 was creepy, what with Ella being a Stepford wife. With only 3 epiodes left you have to wonder where all this is heading?

Outta Sight - December 6, 2005 09:49 AM (GMT)
I totally lost interest in this week's episode  It was going so well for a while but it really has gone downhill now. I'll stick with it to the end now and hope they pull it out of the bag ideally by killing off Ella

Michelle - December 6, 2005 11:00 AM (GMT)
I watched the last four epsiodes on Sunday, and it really is a weird changeable storyline. I also lost track of the time someone said "I have to kill Malachi", and then totally failed to do it.

I have no idea where this series is going to end up. Only 2 eps left though I think. That is iirc that its a 13 ep run?
