Stardate: 51149.5 Sisko is promoted, and Dax is placed in command of the Defiant. She must disable a Dominion sensor array that has been monitoring all traffic within five sectors. Meanwhile, on Deep Space Nine, now named Terok Nor, Kira must find a way of preventing the minefield from being destroyed. Odo's loyalties are questioned when he physically joins with the Founder Leader.

Hmmm. I'm sure there's lots I could say about this one but I can't seem to remember any of it
Start of a mini arc with Odo's loyalties being tested (more than usual!) and a racheting up of the tensions on the station.

I do enjoy this episode - especially Kira's confrontation with Odo at the end, where he says he doesn't care that Rom got arrested and they let Kira down..
It's interesting to note that like in the previous season's Soldiers of Empire, the story builds up to a big expensive confrontation, yet they don't show it. However, unlike SotE, this doesn't feel ike a bad thing to me, as we're supposed to be with poor Sisko, who's stuck on Starbase 375 while everyone else goes off on a jolly adventure (and the scene at the end with Dax replacing Sisko in the 'empty phaser cell' ritual works well with Sisko realising that for the time being his place is not on the Defiant)

Pretty good, although I find the Odo/Kira relationship a little wearing :ermm:
I thought Rom's "I'm just glad it's not me" comment after Quark's confusion over defector/deflector was fecking hilarious
Not sure about Sisko's change in role. I guess it works in the context of the plot, so that's okay, but I can't help the overwhelming feeling that there's going to be some convoluted way of getting him back to his old position, a la Kirk and his admiralty
Liked the ceremony for the phaser coils, or whatever they were :)

Can't remember what I thought of Odo/Kira first time round but it increasingly annoys me on re-watches. Other than a couple of moments it's largely drab and lacking in chemistry. Plus Rene Aubwhatty doesn't seem to be able to do 'love' very well imo
Bizarrely the thing that really sticks out in my mind for this ep is finding Dax really irritating in the phaser coil scene :ponder:

Probably because it was pre-Deboer
No, I know what you mean - she was a bit too jovial about it. Still, I liked the sentiment of it :)

That's exactly what the problem is!
Have to admit, more often than not, I couldn't stand Terry Farrell. She always came off as being too smug to the point of virtually disappearing up her own backside.

Surely that's the point though, it's all new to Odo, hence he wouldn't necessarily be any good at it.
