Of the 10 movies which i your own personal favourite and why?

Number Six - June 16, 2004 09:30 AM (GMT)
It's always a tie between First Contact and The Undiscovered Country

IMO FC is the first of the real TNG movies. Generations doesn't count since it was as much about Kirk as Picard. FC is a good all round film with the Borg at their best and some good acting by Patrick Stewart.

TWOK. I saw it at the cinema when I was 16. It was the day it opened, it was pouring with rain, and we had to wait for ages because the film was delivered to the cinema late. And I have loved Star Trek ever since. :)

My dad took me to see STTMP when it opened - he slept all the way through it!

Generations is a masterpiece.

This (and the least fave star trek poll), is one I am totally unqualified to vote on seeing as I've only seen perhaps the first 4 star trek movies. And none of them I can particularly remember much about. :)

The Wrath of Khan - Next generation stuff completely bores me.

(haven't seen the last one)

I've just voted for that too, it was the last one I saw, I haven't seen the more recent ones, and if its how I remember it had both casts in it, I thought it was a nice transition from the old to the new :P

I liked TWOK too, I saw it at the cinema with my folks, but it was that bug, it scared me a lot from what I can remember

I've just voted for 'First Contact.' It used to be my fave by a long way. Still love it (especially after meeting the lovely Alice Krige), but others have caught up. Always loved 'The Undiscovered Country.' If it was for Iman, it would be the best for me. Rewatched TWOK after all the Nemesis comparisons, and I think it's terrific too, Khan is the perfect nemesis for Kirk. And after all James's talking up of 'Generations', I've revisted that too. I'd not go so far as to say it was a masterpiece, but it was a damn good romp. The revisiting of TNG's 'Family' episode was terrific, and was one of the most emotional scenes I can remember in any incarnation of Trek, whether on TV or movie.

Take care,

Andrew :upside:

I judged it's merit relative to those of TFF, the result being GENERATIONS coming off as a masterpiece :P

I voted for THE WRATH OF KHAN. None of the others have hit me the way that one did. Director Nicholas Meyer made it visually stunning, made some great dramatic transitions, generated a lot of suspense, and the story seemed to appreciate logical thought. The ending with the death of Spock was pretty potent. And, best of all, there was Richardo Montalban's dynamic portrait of a dangerous man--intelligent and obsessed.

Ah...1982. It was a good year for scifi films. ET, BLADE RUNNER, ST:WOK.
