Stardate: Unknown Leeta and Rom get married. Sisko decides to mine the wormhole, which will likely start the war. When their plan is detected, Sisko is forced to evacuate the station and endorse the non-aggression pact between Bajor and the Dominion. While patrolling the border, General Martok detects the first wave of Dominion ships headed for Deep Space Nine. All remaining Starfleet personnel are ordered to leave the station. Kira, Odo, Quark, Rom, Morn and Jake stay behind on the station and disable it as it is handed over to the Dominion.

Wow.

Best Episode Ever :)

What I love about this episode is how there's an ongoing sense of immediacy about it, from Rom and Leeta rushing to get married, to the race against time to get the minefield laid before the Dominion troops arrive.

And we get a lovely 'punch your fist in the air and cheer' moment when the Rotarran arrives to destroy the ships who were about to attack the Defiant as was finishing the minefield.

The final scenes are especially good, with Sisko's decision to abandon DS9 to the Dominion and join the fecking massive Starfleet armada at the end, ending on Sisko's promise to be back, eventually....

For some reason I always forget just how bloody good this episode is. The atmosphere is intense throughout the whole episode, highlighted even more by the complete change in tone from the end of In The Cards. There's some nice one on one moments - Rom & Quark, Kira & Odo, Dax & Worf, and some great special effects - the Rotarran coming to the rescue, the Dominion fleet attacking DS9 and the end shot of the giant Federation fleet

Put simply, it doesn't get any better than this :)

To be fair, I don't think they had a great deal of choice this time Steve....

I never said they did :p

Just found it amusing. How many times is that now?

Quite enjoyed the episode on the whole, especially the whole Quark-Nog-Leeta aspect, and I liked the fact that Jake decided to stay behind, especially after what happened to him earlier in the season :)

Finally finished season 5, after two attempts and gawd knows how many years

On the bright side, the next six episodes, the start of season six, are pretty damned good :)
