Title: The Peacekeeper Wars
Description: Farscape mini series coming soon!

willowroolz - April 30, 2004 03:35 PM (GMT)
Just thought I'd start a thread for anyone wanting to discuss the new Farscape mini series.

It's called The Peacekeeper War, it's 4 hours long (does that include or exclude ad breaks??), all the main cast are back and Sci-Fi in America have bought the rights to screen it.

Please put a clear warning if your post contains spoilers!!

What, no rant about the Sci Fi channel?

I don't think that has ever happened before.

OMG - I can hardly wait for this. Even pregnant Aeryn looks mean and moody and ready to kill!

And now my nightmares are true, Stark is there. That guy drives me nuts!!!

melian - June 7, 2004 03:59 PM (GMT)
Why is that a good thing?

willowroolz - June 7, 2004 04:03 PM (GMT)
It's not. I just couldn't think of anything else to write as I was consumed by crushing disappointment. Cut to the quick. Distraught. And vaguely amused.

melian - June 7, 2004 04:04 PM (GMT)
I'm sure you'll be crying yourself to sleep tonight ;)

Maverick - June 11, 2004 03:15 PM (GMT)
Dammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmn. Farscape is looking classy. Sikozu is looking sweet and it looks like those aliens whose faces break up are in it. Those shots make me think this is going to be some kind of epic.

willowroolz - June 11, 2004 03:17 PM (GMT)
Let's hope so, Maverick. I'm trying to stay spoiler free, so I know little about the plot, but it looks like they've pulled out all the stops in terms of the production values. And we'll finally get a resolution to that cliffhanger, which is the most important thing!

melian - June 11, 2004 03:29 PM (GMT)
Damn straight!!!

willowroolz - August 18, 2004 08:05 AM (GMT)
Still no news on when, where or even if the mini-series will air in the UK in the foreseeable future, despite the fact that it's less than two months away from broadcast in the States.

Edit: Apparently the BBC are awaiting viewing tapes before making a decision on whether or not to make the purchase, despite having been first to screen all of the previous 88 episodes. <_<

Persephone - August 18, 2004 09:18 AM (GMT)
You know the BBC Steve. So much to cram in to the 6.45 slot ;)

There's obviously a very important paint drying tournament, to fit into their hectic schedules. ;)

willowroolz - August 18, 2004 09:28 AM (GMT)

Would it be appropriate for me to call them bastards as well? :ph43r:

goth willow fan - August 18, 2004 09:33 AM (GMT)
In a lot of ways I'm kinda glad that the beeb has abandoned 6.45 as a blanket cult slot.

Choosing that time meant a lot of stuff they bought had to be shown then, whether that time slot was appropriate or not, leaving a rod for their own backs with backlash from fans about cutting and from the "concerned" (sic) groups about inappropriate material.

willowroolz - August 18, 2004 09:35 AM (GMT)
Very true. In fact a couple of S3 episodes couldn't be shown at that time at all, and were moved to late night slots.

Persephone - August 18, 2004 09:55 AM (GMT)
The slot was fine, for stuff like Roswell, which didn't particularly need cutting, and not haing adverts was great too. But yeah, bad slot for shows, so obviously not suitable for kids. That second boxset has an 18 cert. :o

goth willow fan - August 18, 2004 10:02 AM (GMT)
That's what I mean. As soon as they decided that all cult shows should be shown then, they were asking for trouble. And the less said about Channel Four and 6pm the better.

Yeah, I was having a chuckle about that last night. Farscape - with an 18 certificate? Surely not? It's got puppets in it for God's sake!!

Maverick - August 25, 2004 09:36 PM (GMT)
Have you guys seen this?

willowroolz - August 25, 2004 10:30 PM (GMT)
Obviously there may be spoilers involved for those who haven't seen up to the end of season 4.

Yes, thanks Maverick :D

It's brilliant - now I'm even more excited than ever

Is the Peacekeeper Wars a tv movie. Because i found it on Apple trailers, which only show movie trailers?

willowroolz - August 26, 2004 02:06 PM (GMT)
It's a tv mini-series. I'm not entirely sure why it went up on Apple trailers - it only went up at 3pm yesterday and I haven't seen it anywhere else as yet, apart from links through to that site.

I've been trying to find out the exact length of the mini-series because although it's touted as being 4 hours long I think that may well include the US ad breaks, bringing the running time down to about 3 hours.

willowroolz - August 26, 2004 10:26 PM (GMT)
The US Sci Fi Channel will be screening the entire four season, 88 episode run of Farscape between 1st and 15th October, from 8am to 4pm every day, in the build up to the premiere of The Peacekeeper Wars Part 1 on Sunday 17th at 9pm. Part 2 airs the following night.

As per Maverick's previous post, the full trailer is now available at Apple.com Trailers - follow the link at the bottom of my sig. There are spoilers in the trailer, so proceed with caution. ;)

Quote from Rockne O'Bannon at Comic-Con 2004:

QUOTE
The four hour mini-series has a conclusion, a climax, but it isn't the ultimate resolution of the John Crichton saga. So there's a real opportunity for that. I think a lot of it has to do with how well it plays on Sci Fi Channel and how well it's received, and certainly all of us behind the scenes would love to have the saga continue.

There's a video of the interview with O'Bannon and Ben Browder at UGO.com

melian - September 6, 2004 02:11 PM (GMT)
Just seen the trailer.

OMG!!!! I didn't think it possible to be any more excited about this, but just the thought of brandspanking new Farscape.........well, lets just say I was wrong. The excitment factor COULD increase ;)

willowroolz - September 6, 2004 02:17 PM (GMT)
It helps that the trailer has such a cinematic quality to it :)

melian - September 7, 2004 07:39 PM (GMT)
It just wets the appetite enough to get a real heavy Farscape craving hyped up into overdrive.

Or is that just me?

willowroolz - September 8, 2004 07:58 AM (GMT)
Just you and me I think

melian - September 8, 2004 07:13 PM (GMT)
At least we know we have good taste ;)

willowroolz - September 16, 2004 10:41 AM (GMT)
The mini series soundtrack will be available from October 19th.

Find it here.

melian - September 16, 2004 12:29 PM (GMT)
I think it's pretty much a given that I'll be buying that :lmao:

willowroolz - September 16, 2004 12:51 PM (GMT)
Better be careful of the track titles, though. Don't want to see anything called The Death of...
