Title: Stargate Stunts

TV Crazy - August 30, 2005 05:59 PM (GMT)
Over the next 4 weeks Sky One are doing a Best of type thing called "Stargate Stunts", where viewers get to vote for the favourite episode to be shown each Wednesday.

See Sky One for more details. Be warned there is a slight spoiler for S9 on the voting page, just in case you don't know.

This weeks eps are classed under action and the 4 options are.

Shades Of Grey (Season 3)
O'Neill steals technology from the Tollan, and is forced to leave the Stargate programme. Maybourne offers an intriguing proposal.

Proving Ground (Season 5)
While training cadets at a secret facility, O'Neill learns of a possible alien incursion at SGC - and must take a group of raw cadets into a real battle situation.

Fail Safe (Season 5)
Earth finds itself threatened by something even larger than the Goa'uld when the team learns that an asteroid is on a collision course with the planet.

Paradise Lost (Season 6)
Colonel O'Neill is trapped on an alien planet with Maybourne, and must fight to stay alive as his companion becomes increasingly paranoid.

Which would you vote for?

Ems :)

Has to be Fail Safe.

Wonderful fun, and uses every 'meteor heading for the Earth' cliche in the way ony SG-1 can.

"Carter, I can see my house!"

In case you didn't see it Fail Safe won. That line makes me laugh as well. The choices for next week come under caring Jack.

"Brief Candle (Season 1) SG-1 discovers a race of attractive people who age extremely rapidly. The situation becomes personal when O'Neill begins to suffer from the same accelerated aging, and must live out the rest of his life on the planet.

Show And Tell (Season 2) A young boy arrives through the Stargate, and warns of a plot by invisible aliens to kill all of the human race in order to rob the Goa'uld of potential hosts.

A Hundred Days (Season 3) O'Neill finds himself stranded on a planet with no hope of rescue.

Learning Curve (Season 3) SG-1 discovers a planet where children are used to acquire knowledge for the entire population, then discarded. "

I don't really remember Show and Tell, although other people i've talked to are voting for it.

A Hundred Days is one of my fave eps, but i think Learning Curve shows Jack's caring side the best.

What do you think?

Ems :)

Phillip Culley - September 15, 2005 10:53 PM (GMT)
Out of these, probably Show and Tell.

However, while there are some good episodes there, none of them really flag on my radar...

TV Crazy - September 16, 2005 03:34 PM (GMT)
A Hundred Days won that vote. Next weeks choice is "Alien". The options are:

Message in a Bottle
The Fifth Race
Abyss
Fragile Balance

For me it's between Fifth Race and Abyss, although i do like Fragile Balance, it makes me laugh, there's not much of the real Jack in that ep. I don't really remember Message in a Bottle.

Fifth Race is great, but I think I'd have to go with Fragile Balance.

The kid who plays Jack is just perfect at the role, and although there isn't much RDA in it, when he finally turns up, every line is a winner.

"OK, I'm going back to my original question. Whats going on?"

TV Crazy - September 16, 2005 04:38 PM (GMT)
Possible spoiler....

I love Fragile Balance, it makes me laugh a lot, and yes i agree the guy playing mini Jack was brilliant. However i thought the whole point of this "Fantastic Jack Stunt" was to show RDA at his best, cos he's left the show now. I'm really just making up excuses to try and decide which to vote for, it's quite hard.

It has to be The Fifth Race.

A lovely episode, and I adore the scene where Jack arrives in Othala :) (also I love the whole 'dialling the 8th chevron' sequence, but I'm a sucker for things like that :))

TV Crazy - September 17, 2005 09:34 PM (GMT)
Well, the Fifth Race won, watching Jack meet the Asguard is great. Next weeks choices are as follows, and i think its obvious which ep will win.

Window Of Opportunity (Season 4)
O'Neill and Teal'c are caught in a time loop in the SGC, and must relive the same 10 hours over and over again.

Beneath The Surface (Season 4)
The members of SG-1 are used as forced labour in an underground alien facility after their memories are erased by the ruling elite.

Chain Reaction (Season 4)
SG-1 must adjust to a new commanding officer when General Hammond steps down - but O'Neill discovers foul play behind the general's resignation.

The Fifth Man (Season 5)
O'Neill and Lieutenant Tyler are ambushed by Goa'uld forces and trapped behind enemy lines - while the rest of their team discover they don't know who Tyler is.

Between Two Fires (Season 5)
The Tollan offer Earth advanced weapons technology, prompting a secret investigation on Tollana - one that leads to a startling discovery.

I think Window of Opportunity will win, it's my fave ep and everyone i've talked to says its their fave ep. I wouldn't have said it was that military, nor is Beneath The Surface. The others are more military, but who can resist the time loop ep?

Just under 4 weeks til S9, i can't wait. What's your choice?

Ems :)

Its got to be Window of oppertunity  ........I bought S4 on DVD especially to get this ep....one day I'll get around to buying the other series

Matthew Matic - October 20, 2005 12:18 PM (GMT)
If I could vote for any Stargate episode ever it would be 'Window of Oppurtunity'. I know for a fact that this opinion is not just held by myself, but many others. So I definitely agree that this should win.
