Title: 3x07 - Offspring

As the crew researches a prophecy predicting the imminent arrival of a being who may have a profound impact on the world, Darla arrives at the hotel---pregnant and angry, looking for the daddy. Cordelia, hurt by Angel's dishonesty, takes Darla's side in the matter. Baffled by how the pregnancy is even possible, Angel and company turn to the Host for some insight.

I liked this one. There were some moments in this one.

I thought it was funny that Darla killed some people on the bus, for some reason.

Cool Boxing scene with Angel and Cordy.

Angel: "Darla."

Cordy: "Darla?"

Wes: "Darla!"

Fred: "Who's Darla?"

I thought was was really funny aswell.

Darla gets evil later on when she almost kills that little child. Poor little kid.

A bit of a shock when Holtz comes in.

8/10.

Angel: Darla.
Wesley: Darla?
Cordelia: Darla?
Fred: Who's Darla?
Gunn: Angel's old flame from way back.
Fred: Not the one who died?
Gunn: Yeah... No, not that one. The other one that died and came back to life. She's a vampire.
Fred: Do y'all have a chart or something?
Gunn: In the files, I'll get it for you later.

It's Darla's line

Darla: "Right here is fine.  Thanks for the lift. That didn't take long at all...  And they say there is no public transportation in LA."

followed by the flopping bodies

Good flashback - ew Holtz torture :fear: and nice to see Darla saving Angel for once.

Again Angel and Cordy are spending more time together, Fred pointing out to Angel that they would be well suited. (Angel a little dim here it seems the first time he has given it any thought)

And in walks Darla  heavily pregnant ravenous Darla.

Cordy is annoyed with Angel as he lied to them about sleeping with Darla - but is it really in character for her to be so trusting :ponder:

Darla's attack of Cordy shows that even though she is pregnant she is still dangerous. She is also desparate to end her hunger to the point of wanting Angel to kill her.

Big revelation - the unborn child has a soul :o

and then the awakening of Holtz :o

It's been ages since I've seen any of season 3 - I'd forgotten how good it was!

Loved the balance between tension and comedy in this episode, from Fred's rambling ("you're evitable" ) to Darla attempting to feed off the young boy and then discovering that Darla's child had a soul. Also loved Sahjan(sp?) lighting up a cigarette while waiting for Holtz to wake up

One of the things that struck me when I watched this episode again was the mention of the Shanshu prophecy. This is the first time Fred hears about it, and she rightly guesses that Angel doesn't want them to see him kill Darla and the child because "it's the one thing he can never have, even if he lives forever" :tear: . And then, when Angel tells Wes, Cordy and Fred that the child has a soul, Wes says that maybe his part in the apocalypse was to father this child. I don't know why, maybe it's because I haven't seen the episode for so long, but the mention of Shanshu really struck me and I wonder if the writers planned Connor all along? :ponder: (I hope that makes sense :ermm: , sorry if I'm rambling a bit, in my defence it's been a long day   )

Yeah, I wondered about that myself :ponder: Maybe Cordy was so angry with Angel that it clouded her judgement and she felt sorry for Darla when she really should have known better. Being bitten sure brought her to her senses anyway!
