This little mini series is a hidden gem. It forms part of the company wide crossover at DC entitled "Countdown to Infinite Crisis" It's been dwarfed somewhat by it's more popular stablemates, and unduly so.

The premise is so simple, it's astounding that it hasn't been done before.

The Spectre (effectively The living personification of God's wrath) has been driven insane. He now believes that magic, all magic, is evil and must be destroyed. In the first issue he wiped the floor with DC's big guns and set about mopping up what was left. So who would dare stand against him?

Well, an unlikely band of second and third stringers, led by a chain smoking barfly smart talking chimpanzee :blink: Nope, I'm not joking, there leader is the eponymously titled, "Detective Chimp". He seems to know what's really going on, mainly because of the mouse in his pocket that advises him on what to do :blink: :blink:

It's a great read, and unlike the other books in the "Countdown" storyline, it's still readily available, and that, in my opinion, is a shame. It's a terribly under-advertised bookl, that deserves more attention. If you see it the next time your in FP, pick it up. You might surprise yourself by enjoying it.
