Title: Spike: Old Times.
jamiearmour - August 25, 2005 09:02 PM (GMT)
Well, this "Graphic Novel" finally appeared in the shops today, and I've been reliably informed, that due to the price tag (£5.50) it has been gravely under ordered in the UK. Unless you had it pre-ordered, it may become difficult(i.e. expensive) to find at a later date.
I only found out that I can post about it here (as opposed to the Angel spoilers board) as the events occur sometime before Buffy S7, as gauged by the appearance of Halfreck :tear:
It's an enjoyable romp, if you like William.

I'm going on a search tomorrow ;)
Wish me luck :ponder: Or is that monsters
jamiearmour - August 26, 2005 08:07 AM (GMT)
Well, like I said, it only came out yesterday, so it should be relatively easy to find at the moment. I just posted the warning in case people thought they'd have more time than they do to actually get it.
Good monsters (I mean luck :lmao: )
melian - August 26, 2005 08:31 AM (GMT)
Cheers Jamie!!
Do you think FP will stock it? :ponder:

If I ever have trouble getting anything from my prefered shop (Comic Showcase, Charing Cross Road), the FP on Shaftsbury Avenue are almost certain to still have a copy (or 10) :)
laughitupfuzzball - August 26, 2005 08:40 AM (GMT)
 I've got a beautiful shiny copy sitting here looking all adorable
thanks Jamie :yahoo:
prophecy girl - August 26, 2005 08:50 AM (GMT)
right .... i was planning to go to forbidden planet anyway .......... that give me an other good reason
jamiearmour - August 26, 2005 09:29 AM (GMT)
I got Alex's copy in Forbidden Planet. My favourite haunt (A1 books and comics Parnie St Glasgow, since we're namechecking) didn't order any in, they felt that the price would put too many people off buying it. Hence the danger of under-ordering. Some smaller shops may not want to take the chance on an expensive book about a second string (second rate) character. :ph43r:
Jen - August 26, 2005 05:18 PM (GMT)
£5.50!? Wow! Mine cost me £2.80. lol.

That's a great price for something with a retail price of almost $8 stateside.
Where did you pick it up for that price Jen?
Jen - August 26, 2005 11:09 PM (GMT)
this place in sheffield, where i get all my comics delivered from :)
maybe it was priced wrong! lol
jamiearmour - August 27, 2005 12:19 AM (GMT)
It must have been. It retails for $7.49US. Even Diamond distribution reccomended a £5.25-£5.50 retail in the UK.
Your a very lucky lucky girl. (unless that is, they come to your house and try to get the rest of their money. That could be scary :fear: :fear: :fear: ) :lmao:
Jen - August 27, 2005 10:20 AM (GMT)
lol, would indeed be scary!
Thing is, I got the Angel: the Curse issue #3 with it as well. All 4 variant covers. so I think maybe they priced the Spike one the same as those.
buffy_fan1 - August 27, 2005 11:44 AM (GMT)
Is forbidden planet the best place to buy it or should I try the net? I've just look on their website and there is forbidden planet in Newcastle and I didn't know I will have to go asap
prophecy girl - August 27, 2005 02:24 PM (GMT)
i got it :yahoo: ... £4.99 :)

FP would be the best bet for it I suppose. Most online comic retailers have a minimum purchase policy (or they levy ridiculous postage charge) for all orders. So if you were just wanting the one book, I'd reccomend a trip to FP.
prophecy girl - August 27, 2005 03:38 PM (GMT)
better go yourself ........ you never know with amazon delivery ... <_<

Yes but they have only included the first half of the book for that price :ph43r:

Peter David clarifies some aspects of Spike: Old Times. In answering a continuity query about the comic book which gave us Spike's name in full , he says "My guess would be right after Xander's wedding imploded."

And if Jamie cant, several of the folk on here regularly visit the FP in London, and I take a look in the FP in Southampton every couple of weeks.......so I'm sure someone on here could find it for you :)
jamiearmour - September 5, 2005 07:54 PM (GMT)
Now this is what it means to be part of an online COMMUNITY :D :D :D

Thanks guys thats really kind of you I may well take you up on that offer if I can't get into the shop I'll let you know. Your right but about the community thing and thats one of the reasons I love the board. When I was a first year at uni as part of a module I had to learn about online cmmunities which got me interested and how started on the old beeb board then to hear. Now I spend hear avoiding my uni w**k  At time I thought my lecturer was talking non sense I thought it was all just text on screen how wrong I was

FP Southampton sucks beyond belief. The store is incredibly small and has virtually no stock of anything. But what makes it worse is that I'm yet to find another comic store in Southampton, so I can't get hold of stuff like Serenity comics without looking elsewhere.

I always get books off t'internet. Unless it's something like a 3 for 2 at Waterstones, books are always much cheaper off the net. And it's rare for FP to sell anything for less than the RRP :(

jamiearmour - September 7, 2005 12:18 PM (GMT)
Probably the variant cover version that is doing the rounds
Just checked ebay there, it's the photo cover, which is somewhat rarer than the illustrated cover, that is selling for £16.
(aren't you a lucky girl Alex?)
(Uhm, it was the photo cover I got for you wasn't it?)

Well I've just got in how much do I love forbidden planet  I was a bit small though the staff were helpful they moved stuff out of the so I could get around. Unfortunately they didn't have old times in stock they was going to be a delivery tomorrow just my luck :( I won't be able to get back to Newcastle until next week if I'm lucky. I might give them a ring tomorrow and ask them if they will keep a copy for me it has to be worth a try.
jamiearmour - September 7, 2005 04:08 PM (GMT)
The book came out weeks ago, so it's unlikely to be in tomorrow's new comic delivery :( If you want, I'm heading into the Glasgow branch tomorrow I could have a look about and try and dig a copy up if you want. (see that little gag there? "Dig one up" Yeah, I know, a very little gag  )
The last watcher - September 8, 2005 06:15 AM (GMT)
Thats if Joe doesnt manage to 'stake' a claim to one in Newcastle..........
Well you started the 'little gags' Jamie........ :)
buffy_fan1 - September 8, 2005 11:18 AM (GMT)

buffy_fan1 - September 8, 2005 11:58 AM (GMT)
Thanks Claire, Jamie offered to have a look in FB in Glasgow today but if there isn't any left I would be grateful if you would get one for me in London. I'll get you know! I just want to say thank you to everyone for offering to help me out  If I can ever do anything to help anyone let me know!!!
jamiearmour - September 8, 2005 04:05 PM (GMT)
