Samantha Carter returns to Stargate Command when the Ori seize control of a planet, using an expanding force field to gain a foothold in our galaxy.

Love this episode. The Ori were already a big threat, this ep escalated that threat drastically. I think I'm already enjoying the Ori more than I ever enjoyed the Go'a'uld. The threat already seemed pretty serious once the whole planet got encompassed. When I was revealed they were builing a giant stargate, it was a serious "Oh sh*t..." moment.

Ben Browder seems to be getting into the role a lot more. He hasn't been given too much to do since he joined. This seemed like the first ep where he was one of the main characters. Vala proved she wasn't just a liability all the time. Nice to see Sam back, and Landry is fitting in perfectly.

The nuke being used against them reminded me of the asteroid episode (threshold?). They really must get more careful before chucking nukes around.

Overall, series nine is shaping up really well. It may well be the best season of Stargate ever. The only thing I don't like is Gerak, who is just annoying. Bring back Isaac Hayes I say.

 I enjoyed this one too but I kept getting distracted so I've got to watch it again in peace.

Loved the giant stargate idea :o

:lmao: @ their conversation on the planet in the spacesuits

I was quite worried about Vala I'm glad they gave her a possible escape so she may return at some point, not sure about her chances in the Ori worlds though

I'm pretty sure she'll be back. I think she is just out for a few eps while Carter is back with the group. It seems that she no longer has to be linked with Daniel, so I'm not sure how she is going to wheedle her way back into SG command though.

The more I see of the Ori, the more I think we don't stand a chance, and should just start worshipping them. In any sense of the word, they are quite legitimate gods, just not particularly friendly ones. Hopefully they will start getting some more tech from atlantis which will give them a fighting chance.

:) Watched it again in peace and enjoyed it much more. I think it was definitely setting up the Ori's powers for later in the season, the introduction of the supergate idea, being powered by black holes and using the weapons to charge the energy shield. I'm sure it's not going to be the last we see of these things.

:lmao: again at the space suits

Love Landry at the end "Hunger" :o  he deserved it

(Quick mention of Shaft :o how rude  )

Wasn't CB contracted for eight episodes this season ? If nothing else she should be back for another couple.

Agree with Bakhesh on this one, a fantastic episode. I'm absolutely loving the Ori thread this year and completely agree that they're already far more interesting than the Goa'uld ever were. Loved the bit in the previous episode where Jackson and the Prior were effectively arguing the points of science vs religion. Great stuff

Overall, again, I'd say season 9 is shaping up to be the best season of SG I can remember. The infusion of Ben Browder has literally given the show a new lease of life, and with Beau Bridges, Lexa Doig, Lou Gossett jr and temporarily Claudia Black joining the ranks this year it really has the feel of being a SG:TNG !! To be honest, if they could bring CB back permanently next year I wouldn't complain about seeing Amanda Tapping leave. That was the one thing I found disappointed me with this one, that Vala was (it appeared) to be written out for the moment.

A fantastic continuation to what's proving to be a great season.

I loved this episode. It had everything in it that I love in SG1. Drama and comedy in equal measure.

The introduction of the glutonous Goa'uld was hilarious, Chicken is a rare delicacy in the US? Who knew? Seedless grapes are a part of a classified government conspiracy? Well, we all knew that didn't we?

I wouldn't worry too much about Valla though Alex. She'll probably be running the place the next time we see her

Given her episode committment as being more than six episodes I don't feel it's spoilerish in any way to say that she's definitely back this season, albeit we're in for a bit of a wait though......

I did however take the precaution of hiding it for those that don't want to see

Thought this ep was great, i agree with most of the comments already made, this was one of those SG1 classics if that's the right way of putting it, it had everything, and it wasn't what i was expecting.

Definately going to miss Vala, hope she comes back, she was very funny, she and Mitchell kind of fill the void left by Jack, i'm glad they haven't forgotten him, cos Sam's entrance with Landry trying to persuade Jack to let her return was hilarious.

Look forward to see what more the Ori have in store for Earth, cos they've gotta be pretty upset now that SG-1 and Vala destroyed their Beachhead.

Ems :)
