Stardate: Unknown Odo and Quark are stranded when they crash on a planet with no communications or replicators. Their only hope to be found is if they can climb to the top of a high mountain. Back on the station, Jake and Nog are moving in together. However, it doesn't go as smoothly as they thought.

Forget about the fairly fluffy sub plot and stick to the main plot with this one. Nearly a whole episode devoted to Quark and Odo sparring, and a nice twist that Odo outsmarts himself by not finding out what Quarks being arrested/called in for

Bit of a personal favourite for me this one :)

I completely agree - the Odo/Quark relationship is one of the best things about DS9, and this episode plays it to the max. Shame about the duff Jake subplot, but there you go :) I personally love the little scene in the runabout, with Odo doing whatever he can to annoy Quark - rangind from lip smacking to buzzing :D

And Odo just seems to have the bad luck - within the short space of time he's been a solid, he's had two adventures which would have been so much easier were he still able to shapeshift - here he could have just morphed into his Tarkalian hawk and flown to the top, and in Apocalypse Rising he could have snuck on as Gowron's pet targ (as he admitted). What awful timing...

Okay, now I have no idea where I stopped watching the series because I'd seen this one before as well

Very enjoyable episode for all the reasons mentioned above

I liked Odo's response when they were rescued and Bashir tells Odo that Quark saved both their lives: "I was afraid you were going to say that"

I think they could have cleared up the passage of time. It took Odo and Quark several days to get to that planet yet there's no indication of how long it takes the Defiant to reach them after receiving Quark's signal. It all seems a bit quick, especially as Odo is calling out to Quark as if he'd only just left when he finally gets beamed up :ermm:

You'd assume that the runabouts top speed is considerably lower than that of the Defiant, so once the distress signal was picked up they would head for it at top speed. Can't remember if it was established whether the Defiant was already out looking for them either - if they were they would have to be closer to the crash than the station

I can't remember anyone on the station even mentioning that they were missing :ponder:

I've no doubt that the Defiant is much, much faster, it just seemed that - if Odo thought Quark would hear him calling out - the inference was that they hadn't been apart for long, and he gets beamed up in that instant :ponder:

Another fantastic episode, especially for the Odo/Quark dynamic. I can't remember a better episode with the pair of them bouncing off each other, and ultimately Quark getting the upper hand!

I have to admit, this is probably one of my favourite episodes from the entire series. Auberjonois and Shimmerman are two of the show's biggest assets and giving them a showcase like this can't really deliver any other result than a slice of genius.
