Title: CSI Miami
Psycho Jack - June 14, 2004 07:23 PM (GMT)
Slight hint of a soild arc amidst the "will they wont they" fiasco, some good detective work and Kylie popping on the soundtrack last week . . . brilliant!
I seriously hoped the arc is followed up.
Horatio looked totally shattered when he found out about Salas and the IA chap.
Emily just gets more scrumptious as weeks go by.
Two weeks until the NY crossover btw. :D

It was a better Pilot episode than the Miami one, IMO :)

I still haven’t seen Cross Jurisdiction, even thought the lovely Kari is in it. Every time I seem to start to search for it, I get distracted or can’t find it!
To be honest I really got into the CSIs from this season as we didn’t get Five down here before hand.
Incidentally, Five have picked up NY too . . .

I've been renting the CSI Season 3 DVDs (I had missed the first 3 seasons) and watch "Cross Jurisdictions" which introduced the CSI MIAMI cast and settings. I was surprised how much it resembled the recent CSI MIAMI show which introduced the CSI NEW YORK show.
Spoilers (highlight to see clearly):
A couple is killed which sends the local CSI chasing the killer to his hometown. In his hometown, guns are pulled as they enter a new victimized couple's home. The killer turns out to be a in a servant-type position.

Already seen it, but may well watch it again

It wasn't bad.
The NY people all seem like clones of the LV/M people but that's to be expected really.
And oooooh different procedures at the crime scene :nerd:

I can't be arsed to watch both of them at the moment - I slighlty prefer Miami so just watch that - I can't see why the hell I would want another dose of what is essentially exactly the same show.

I've only just gotten into CSI and have missed all of the season except the finale that Five have just finished due to lack of reception in Glasgow so I'm wondering if someone could give me some background on the Miami team as that seems to be the one I'd rather watch. I saw the finale and have a couple of questions.
What is Horatio's relationship to the Detective woman? In the repeat on tonight I found out that she is his brother's widow but he looked kinda crushed about her seeing that guy in the finale...
Also mentioned by the IA guy who was threatening Horatio was a kid, what was that about?

The kid is his brothers - the mother of the kid is played by Azura Skye

If AS is playing a character who is about the same age as she was meant to be on Buffy, that's just wrong!

I think she's older in CSI :)

As Paul mentioned and you gathered the detective is his brother's widow - her name is Yelina. He died a couple of years ago - he was an undercover cop who went too far - he became an addict and then was murdered. In one of the eps this year Horatio finally solved his murder.
All through S1 and into S2 it was obvious Horatio was falling for her and her for him to a certain extent. Then AS turned up with a kid who they DNAed and found was his brothers. He had had an affair with AS while he was undercover as she was an addict.
To protect his brothers name he set her up with an apartment and made sure she was clean. Unfortunately he had to keep the facts from Yelena to stop her from knowing about the affair and when she saw Horatio with AS and the kid who has red hair she made the assumption it was Horatio's and it sort of killed any chance he had with her.

Aww that's a bit of a shame, from what CSI: Miami episodes I've seen Horatio doesn't seem to have much of a life outside his work. But it's probably for the best as when two characters get together on a show it does seem to signal a downturn (eg. Fraiser with Niles and Daphne). Did Horatio cover by saying the kid was his or did Yelena just assume and not ask?
Sorry, I'm being annoying questions girl.

No he hasn't said anything. Yelena saw the three of them together and assumed it was his little girl.
