It is a truth universally acknowledged that movies based on video games suck harder than a turbocharged hoover, but that might be about to change. Tom Clancy's celebrated sneak-em-up Splinter Cell is getting the Hollywood treatment with some heavy talent behind the camera. Dreamworks is in talks to buy the rights, and they've already hired Daniel Pyne (The Manchurian Candidate) to write the script, and Michael Ovitz is producing. No word yet on who will play gymnastic stubblechops superspy Sam Fisher, but we reckon its's tailor-made for Tom Cruise. |
