Some very interesting (and possibly spoilery) screen caps and a trailer up at Kryptonsite, including...
****SPOILER**** ...one shot of Chloe where she appears to be in the Fortress of Solitude :o

Just did a search on torrentspy - two torrents files for S5E01 have 9700 downloaders . . . :D
And download times are really slow

If you're downloading ep 1, be warned, I downloaded smallville s05e01.avi and couldn't get it to play no matter what codec pack I installed. :(
I then found that there's talk of a fake version out there. I downloaded smallville.s05e01.hdtv.xvid-fqm.[VTV].avi and it plays fine. :)

Nit-Pic Dept - A question to ask yourself after you've watched this,
1) How on earth did Lex know where to find Chloe's hospital bedside ?
2) What kind of cryptic & twisted mind can watch a really good season premier and come up with a question like that ?

It's a good question, I hope it'll be answered in subsequent episodes :)
And you're right, that was a bloody good season premiere, one of the best I've seen for a while.
First off - love the new opening titles
Even though we knew it was coming, wasn't it great to see the Fortress of Solitude? It was really well done. And it was also great to see the return of the Phantom Zone. I'm kind of surprised that Clark dealt with the Disciples of Zod so quickly, but I reckon they'll be back.
A bit of a Buffy reunion on this ep, what with Leonard Roberts (who still can't act to save his life  ) and James Marsters. I thought the latter's arrival was great, and it kind of evoked memories of the black oil in The X Files as well.
The scene between Clark and Chloe in the hospital room was wonderful. I kind of hoped they'd take it in that direction and it didn't disappoint, and I thought they both played it really well, too.
Not sure what to make of the loss of Clark's abilities at the moment. There was a lot in this episode that reminded me of the second movie. I'm looking forward to seeing where they take it.
Fantastic beginning

They had a hell of a lot of "loose ends" to tidy up after last seasons finale :fear: But I think they handled them all quite well, in the hands of a lesser writer/director it could have seemed rushed, but they still had time for the slower moments like the Clark/Chloe scenes (well, they seemed slower to me).
I still don't like James Marsters <_< But at least he made a reasonable debut in this ep (i.e. not too much screen time  :whistling: )
Clark? Powerless? Will he finally get it on with Lana? Lois? Or Chloe? Now that his yellow sun powered superlove won't kill them, I suppose anything's possible

It was pleasingly brief
Shame they put his name up at the beginning. I kept thinking the episode was going to end but then I thought, well it can't, doofus hasn't appeared yet

Great season opener!!!
Had to feel sorry for Lana, dragging herself all over Smallville with a dodgy leg
Clark must get his powers back :o
Lex is already a lot darker than he has been in previous seasons (although he was heading that way by the end of last season).
It was great to (finally) see Chloe and Clark have an honest conversation  It didn't disappoint :D

Poor Lana with her leg. ;)
Chloe and Clark bonding was good stuff  So she finally told him.
Oooh James's is here :fear:

I was really looking forward to this but my stupid Sky box kept losing it's signal  makes me wonder while I pay them every month <_<
Still, I managed to see most of it and it was excellent  Will watch the repeat showing and see if I can get a better picture, then hopefully I will know exactly what is going on
Fantastic opening credits  that was the only part that didn't flicker and disappear

The first time I watched it I didn't notice the footage of the destruction of Krypton from the first movie playing in the background when Clark was being "educated"
