I've just watched the first two episode of Lost first impression of the series is that it good a range of different characters with I like the fact that there is something sinister lurking in the jungle although if it turns out to be some undiscovered creature it could be very simliar to Jurassic Park :lmao:
Krazy - August 10, 2005 10:41 PM (GMT)
I've watched the first 2 episodes on Channel 4 and yes the show is dam good, it has lived up to my expectations. For a Pilot, i think it was very good, i liked the story and all the characters were great because they were so mysterious.

Aw, it was only a little monkey with indigestion after eating Greg Grunberg
I really enjoyed it. The scenes of the crash were effective (and I take it we'll see more of it), I liked the way they revealed who was in the cuffs. Oh, and I wanted to strangle the guy's sister
Rhyanne - August 11, 2005 07:49 AM (GMT)
Hmm will have to try real hard here not to give away spoilers as after the two eps on channel 4 I just had to stay up and watch the third on E4 - slightly regretting it now mind :(
Any way I thought all the characters were really good and they all seem to have the quirks and secrets as it would seem.
Matthew Fox well err he gets it from me - I get the feeling he is not the hero he is perhaps made out to be!
Sawyer is strange and portrayed as the bad guy but I doubt he is. Then there is Siyad who was in the Iraqi Army!
Boones sister needs a slap and reality check if you ask me although I suspect there are family issues there with Boone.
Then you have the Man and his son who obvisouly have never spent that much time together.
Then you have the Oriental couple who seem very strange if you ask me there is more than meets the eye to this one!!
Hurly seems like a nice chap though.
The old man - all is not right here!
Well Polar Bears indeed!! I thought they had landed in Jurassic Park when I first heard the noises coming from the jungle!!
Excellent show though it's like watching a little movie with every ep.
How obvious was it though that the Pilot would survive the crash only to be hauled out of the cockpit by what ever it was - I predicted this one straight off!!
Can't wait till mext week although will probably have to slow down to Channel 4 pace as I cannot sit up till 12 on a "school" night every week and I can't tape the Digi!! Humphh

Excellent  Really enjoyed it. Watched to the E4 episode also but probably won't again so it will last a little bit longer
Very additive viewing :)

Presumably we will get to see how all the people survived the crash over the next few episodes.
 Greg is contractually obliged to appear in any JJ show :) - didn't last too long in this one though

It's only about 3 weeks until the r1 dvd set is released. I'm tempted to get it just so I don't have to sit through C4's incessant ad breaks. They had three in the space of 20 minutes last night <_<
Oh, and the
menus look cool B)

I have never understood the appeal of watching the next ep on E4 (or wherever).
It's usually on very late so attention is lacking and it's on the next week at a more reasonable time.
You are a week ahead of most other people watching it, so can't talk about it without spoiling other people.
What do you do the following week? you either watch that ep again or are stuck with following the series a week ahead of everyone else.

You're not wrong there Steve, C4 was worse than the fracking US with the number of ad-breaks it had last night

WOW! this show is some of the best drama ive seen in ages!
i can see its going to take more than a season to 'get' each character!

I've no idea what you lot are talking about, what a load of utter tripe, the characters are annoying and completely unlikable. It was obvious and predictable. The threat in the jungle, ooh scary. The flashbacks are pointless and if anything exciting happens I'll fall of my seat. I will not be watching again and all you people who convinced me to watch with your outrageous hopes and lies, shame on you. :(
Only joking, I thought it was good, enjoyed it.

Re watching on E4 - I decided against it because you have to keep watching at E4 pace otherwise you end up watching the same episode the following week. And you don't get to see the finale any earlier so I'm sticking with terrestrial pace and one ep a week. And no spoilers for me either, I want to be shocked and surprised by this one  :weird: :toomuchtv: (I give it a week and I'll be visiting the ABC site and spoilerfix again ;) )

I find the 118 118 break dovetails intensely irritating! (though not half as much as the Toucan ones on five.

Normally they don't bother me but I found them very annoying during Lost. Also, was it just me or did the ad breaks seem quite long? I'm sure they were about 4 mins long (and considering that they had 3 in the space of 20 mins, 2 of which were only 5 mins or so apart it seems excessive). I know they have to get the revenue from advertisers so that they can afford to buy shows etc, but come on! <_<
Dan Brown - August 11, 2005 11:54 AM (GMT)
Excellent I throughly enjoyed it and managed to get my whole family to watch which I thought maybe hard seeing how all of them 'hate' Alias, but are never willing to watch an episode.
I hate it when people label things as rubbish but aren't willing to give them a try, my father is awful in this way.
But they all enjoyed it, but not as much as me. Shame Greg wasn't in it for longer, he's an excellent actor. I think maybe doing roles like that is bad for his career in some respect. Can you amagine his CV.....
Played the Pilot in the Pilot episode of Lost.....died within 5 minutes.
I just hope he starts to get more main roles.
Can't wait for next week, didn't see that Kate is the criminal coming that was a shock. The Special effects were excellent especially on the beach after the crash and in the flash backs of the plane coming apart.
There are two ways in which the show works...we have the mystery of the actual characters and the mystery of the island that they are on...this show is multilayered and could last for a long time.
Another smash my JJ Abrams, now I wish I could get my shows off the ground just like his.

From what I read, the ad breaks were in exactly the same place that they were in the original US broadcast :)
Did they have one after the opening credits? (OK - I didn't watch it, but only cause I've sen it already :))
Laura - August 11, 2005 12:48 PM (GMT)
Really enjoyed the pilot last night, I'm looking forward to finding out more about the characters. The Daily Mail gave two bad reviews for it, but then again I don't think they actually know how to say anything nice about anything or anyone . Because of SFX and their spoilerific captions I wasn't surprised by the revelation that Kate was the prisoner.

Ratings soar as viewers find Lost TV drama Lost has got off to a successful start in the UK with six million viewers for its first episode on Channel 4, unofficial figures show. About a group of plane crash survivors, it is the latest hit from the US.
Overnight ratings showed the episode's first part averaged 6.1 million and the second half was seen by 5.9 million.
That made it the channel's most successful debut for a US series. ER opened with five million and Desperate Housewives launched with 4.6 million.
"We are absolutely delighted with the huge success of these ratings," Channel 4 director of acquisitions Jeff Ford said.
CHANNEL 4'S TOP SHOWS OF 2005 1. Big Brother - 6.6 million 2. Lost - 6m (overnight figure) 3. Celebrity Big Brother - 5.7m 4. Desperate Housewives - 5.4m 5. Jamie's School Dinners - 5.3m
"There is obviously a large appetite for innovative and distinctive quality drama." Lost's feature-length first episode was split into two parts on Wednesday, with Big Brother sandwiched in between.
The drama follows a group of survivors stranded on a mysterious Pacific island and cost approximately $10m (£5.58m).
The series was a runaway success for the ABC network in the US.
Big Brother, which saw hairdresser Craig Coates kicked out in a surprise eviction, achieved an audience of 6.4 million - its second largest this series.
Only Coronation Street and Emmerdale achieved higher viewing figures on Wednesday evening.
Lost and Big Brother both beat BBC One's Silent Witness, which averaged 5.7 million, and The Bill on ITV1, with 5.4 million.

Considering how many innovative and distinctive quality dramas Channel 4 have bought and then consigned to the dustbin, that comment strikes me as being ever so slightly hypocritical

Really enjoyed both episodes on C4 and only just about manged to stop myself from watching the E4 episode. I was a bit worried it wouldn't live up to the hype especially as throughout the day nearly everybody on the radio and even the news was talking about it but thankfully for once it did. :)
Nice twist with Kate being the prisoner and I'm hoping that something similar will occur with Jack as while I really liked him he was just a little too heroic and good. That message being on a loop for what was it 30 years or something ? that is weird. :ponder: I'm intrigued and definitely hooked.
Btw was the pregnant girl in Roswell ? and what was her accent ? first I thought it was South African, then Australian then I thought I imagined it and that it was just American.

The message had been playing for 16 years.
Yep Emilie de Ravin was in Roswell and she is Australian so was using her own accent.

How far ahead are viewers on E4? (and Channel 4) Is this the only channel to watch this in the uk? I can't wait to see what happens although I'm not sure how it will last over 26 week after all they can't kill off I cast member every week? What want to know is the kids dog ok?
Margot C - August 11, 2005 10:24 PM (GMT)
I really like this so far! I had seen the first episode already on the plane to Boston (strange choice of thing to show on a plane, it's like showing Titanic to a group of 11 year olds about to go on a ferry to France, which the thoughtless teachers at my school did ).
So far I think most of the characters are great, though I don't like Jack, because he's too good to be true, and I don't like Sawyer because he's being marketed as the cool rebel type that all the girls are supposed to fall in love with just because he's dangerous. I think the Hobbit should be the lead character.
I love the interaction between all the different characters, and I can't wait to see how they all develop. I like the twists and turns, but it's more predictable than Alias. I guessed that Kate was the prisoner.
I agree with Paul, the Toucan ads in CSI are the worst

E4 show the next ep straight after the 4 one so one week ahead.
There are 25 eps over 23 weeks (the season finale is also a double ep).
