Title: Where Can I Get The Comic?

Dan Brown - August 7, 2005 09:29 PM (GMT)
Does anyone think I'll be able to pick up The Serenity comics in a local comic book store, I can't get things over the net...so was wondering if anyone has found their copy in a local store?

jamiearmour - August 14, 2005 12:04 AM (GMT)
Hey Daniel, I'm afraid that they've sold out worldwide. You may be able to pick up a stray copy cheap somewhere, but if you look HERE you'll see that it's not very likely. The mal cover is going for even more :fear: :fear:

Even issue 2, which only came out last week is sky rocketing in value, mainly because they printed half as many copies of the second issue than they did the first.

Rumours are afoot of a reprint run though, but at the moment, they're only rumours.

A trade paperback collecting all three issues is practically guaranteed though. It'll probably appear sooner rather than later too.

Forbidden Planet London had a few copies left of issue 1 when I went in there 2 weeks ago, but I don't know if they're still there. Issue 2 is much harder to find, FP Southampton sold out ages ago but there are still copies on ebay for reasonable prices.

You are very unlikely to pick up back issues in comic shops, the first two issues have been almost instant sell outs on the day of release.

If you can't get them off ebay your best bet would be to hope they are reprinted or wait for a graphic novel.

Makes me glad I already have my copies ;)

I've got both of mine off eBay. That's the most likely place you'll find one. Cheapish...

Same here, got mine on pre-order from the states as there are no comic book stores near me! :tear:

jamiearmour - August 15, 2005 03:38 PM (GMT)
Alex and I got ours on pre-order from A1 books and Comics in Glasgow   The best wee comic shop in the world. (I get a 10% discount every time I say that  and a 15% discount for having a standing order with them  )

melian - August 15, 2005 03:45 PM (GMT)
I bought mine from Borders, but they have them in Forbidden Planet too :p

Dan Brown - August 15, 2005 03:57 PM (GMT)
Well I have given up my search....hopefully a graphic novel will come out....

I would have thought it was a dead cert.

I phoned FP mail order earlier this afternoon and they said that issue 2 would be reprinted soon. They reckon it will be out in the shops within a month - given copies on ebay are going for at least £15, it may be a reasonable idea to wait rather than buying off ebay.

Get your orders in now. ( I mean you Alex) Here are the covers available for issue 3.

I have to say, I do like the Sean Phillips painted cover too.

Would I be greedy if I bought two copies for myself? :innocent:

Considering they were selling for £30 on comic stands at Memorabilia you'd be very wise

jamiearmour - August 17, 2005 10:00 AM (GMT)
And people were buying them?

£30?

Wow, it might be a good time to sell my spare copy of issue 1 :ponder: :ponder:

Is the comic in question the one, ones that are set inbetween the series and the new film?
If so i would like to know what happens if anyone has them as i am due to watch the series this week as i have just bought them on DVD
If not were and when will these be on sale?
thanks for any help
Leanne

jamiearmour - August 18, 2005 07:27 PM (GMT)
Hi Leanne. Yeah the comic books do bridge the gap between the series and the movie.

The first two issues have been on sale and sold out pretty quickly. Issue three is out in 3 weeks time though.

No definite news on reprints or trade paperbacks collecting the whole series, but I'm keeping my ears and eyes (obviously) open for any information.

buffybot - August 18, 2005 11:31 PM (GMT)
thanks

have you got the first two and if so is there any chance you can do a short synopsis of them
Leanne

if not is if there is anyone else that has read these comics and would not mind doing this for us dim witts that have not bought the comics

jamiearmour - August 19, 2005 07:59 AM (GMT)
I would do. But I'm at w**k right now, I'll do it later tonight. It will involve spoilers though. You sure you want to know, you could get the chance to read ir for yourself at some point.

buffybot - August 19, 2005 09:06 AM (GMT)
If you dont mind and you have the time please
so it wont spoil for others maybe put it in a new thread with a spoiler warning
also do it when you have the time , what ill do is copy and paste it and then read it when i have watched all the series, so there is no major rush. Then i'll hopefully get myself a copy of the 3rd one when it comes out so ill be ready for the film in a couple of months

jamiearmour - August 19, 2005 09:50 AM (GMT)
Seems as though you've put some thought into this

I'll put something together tonight.
